Here is a "green" closing gift idea

Compact florescent light bulbs!  Save money, save energy, reduce your carbon footprint.  Go to http://www.18seconds.org/ for more information and to check and see how green your state is.  Don't let the look of that light bulb put you off.  There are now soft white CFL bulbs that look like regular spotlights and don't have that awful cold, blue look of a regular florescent. They are more expensive initially, but save lots of money over time.  When selecting your bulbs, compare the lumens with that of the incandesent bulb you normally buy, and then bump it up a little, and you will get just the right amount of light.  Give a couple to your clients as part of your closing gift and introduce them to the concept.

These lights may reduce your phony carbon foot print, but they increase the real mercury foot print if not disposed of properly.  Mercury poisoning actually has proved harmful affects on people and the rest of the planet.  It has been proven to cause brain damage in humans and animals.  If you elect to use these lights as I do to save money in electricity, please make sure that they are recycled properly and not sent to the landfill.

Thanks for the reminder Roger!  That is mentioned on the website I provided the link to as well.  Luckily they last so long you won't have to do it very often!

What did you mean by "phony" carbon foot print?  And yet you use them too?

Dito read up on the mercury that will end up in the land fill. If you really want to go green use LED lights.

Well I always like finding another website that is helpful.  I also like the idea.  Thanks for the post!

Great idea.  I love it.

Joanne,

We initially started using these for fixtures that are hard to reach because they last longer.  My husband hates climbing a 17 foot ladder to replace a bulb and this limits the time spent doing that.  Saving energy is a nice bonus as well.

Boy Rita, you are finding some old posts here!  I have been looking for LED lights, as suggested, but have not found any yet, although I havent' looked online yet.
