I've been building green homes for over 8 years nows.  I started a group on AR called the Green Zone.  I invite the AR community to sign up and contribute blogs and resources to it.  I post all my feature articles for my own website that is all about green new home construction.

Thanks for the information I have thought about getting the designation but dont really want to try jumping on that band wagon too. Leave it to someone who truly lives that lifestyle and has the niche down.

Green, live in something small that is already built. We have so much green stuff here its hard to keep up the place for human habitation. Only kidding but there is a lot of green here.

I totally agree with you.  I am in the Metro West area of Boston and we are behind in getting on board with being green in housing.

I have been green for last 26 years.  I have signed up for the NAR designation and I hope that we can convince our builders to get on board with this.

A great start to going green -- what did you think of the NAR course?  I know a lot of people are interested in finding out more.  eco-all stars vs. Nar Green -- which is better?

Hi everyone, thanks for your great comments.  For those of you who don't "buy into" the green "trend" ... it doesn't matter if you think humans have contributed to global warming or if it's cyclical in nature, the fact remains that greener living will (1) cost us less energy dollars, and (2) help keep the planet healthier for our grandkids.

Why not clean up after ourselves?

Why not recycle?

Why not think about your personal impact on the earth's limited resources?

You don't have to drive an electric car to help your clients check out whether a home utiliizes Energy Star appliances and has double glazed windows.  Being "green aware" is just another service we can offer our customers.  This is not a trend.  This is an awakening.  I'm not a pot smoking hippy, I'm a 50-something woman who wants to start doing the right thing and live conciously.

Again, thanks for your comments.  If any of you come across other interesting websites, I'd love to check them out so feel free to share.

Helpful post, Peggy.  Realtors should become more familiar with green products so they can promote those when marketing a listing.  A builder we work with has made it easy for us by incorporating a "Green" package with some of the homes he builds.

Peggy,

Green housing is beginning to become more of a factor now in the consumer's mind. Of course it still has a way to go but websites like these will definitely help educate everybody of how important a concept it is.
