Did any one see that today in the Giants and Cardinals game today? I have been watching football for years now and never knew this rule existed. The offense can try a kick at a field goal with a holder. The defense can return it like a kickoff if it's no good. The last time it was tried was 1968 by the Bears. Judging by the results today it will be another 40 years before it's tried again. I hope the Saints show up Monday night. By the way I don't know if the Bears made it or not.

John, that was a first for me too. I thought they were all of a sudden playing by playground rules, but apparently this IS a rule....seldom used as you pointed out. Never seen it attempted before and I'd be surprised if I ever saw it again. But at least my Giants are 10 -1! - Jim

Seems very logical to me. I know the rule existed but just forget about things like that. The Saints are a 5-5 team this year and should finiish 8-8. Our defense is very bad so we have to score 30 plus to win. Too many injuries. Have never seen so many at all levels.

I've seen it used after a punt in college games, but had never seen it used in the NFL. It would have made more sense if it was from the other side of the 50.
