In just a few short weeks, the streets of Charleston will be filled with reindeer, elves, presents, Christmas trees and santas.

reindeerAnd although this may include the holiday decorations, that's not what I'm referring to. It's time again for the Annual Reindeer Run!

This fun run is a jolly jog or jaunt (5K - 3.1 miles) through the streets of downtown Charleston during the holiday season.  And it's for reindeers of all fitness levels and ages.

Whether you plan on running or walking the course, be sure to dress in your best holiday costume to win fabulous prizes.  The Reindeer Run is for everyone including runners, walkers, dogs, strollers, & scooters.

This year's run will be on December 6th.  The starting point is going to be Southend Brewery.  The runners will begin at 9:00 am, with the walkers beginning immediately thereafter.

All proceeds from the Reindeer Run will be split between MUSC Children's Hospital and the Charitable Society of Charleston

According to the official website for the Annual Reindeer Run, "80% of the funds go to the MUSC Children's Hospital and 20% go to the Charitable Society of Charleston's endowment.  In 2007 the Reindeer Run contributed $14,500 to the CSC endowment.  This endowment provides grants and donations to local non-profit organizations which benefit both children and elderly residents of the Lowcountry."

Hope you can make it out this year!  Can't wait to see you there!

This sounds like such fun!  We have a Halloween parade in Portsmouth that I enjoy going to.  I love seeing all the creativity. I would love the Reindeer Run!  Maybe you could post some photos from the event so we could see the costumes.

What a great idea.  It sure beats the same old every day parade.  Enjoy and send some pictures.
