Los Gatos Ghost Tour by Mary Pope-Handy
Downtown Los Gatos, Califoria, featurtures many historic buildings with architectural importance and charm.

One of them is an 1891 Victorian home, turned  mortuary (in 1917), turned  restaurant (1976 to the present).

Would you be surprised to hear that in the past, many have asserted that it's haunted?

My town blog, Live In Los Gatos, offers information and tips on current residential real estate, tidbits of history, current events and issues, scenic spots, local businesses, neighborhood & district information and a series on the town's haunted spots.

Please stop by www.LiveInLosGatos.com and learn about the Coggeshall Mansion's newest use, see two photos I took of it recently plus a tourist's U Tube video done in the last few months.

Then check out some of the other ghosty places on the blog too....Ford's Opera House and the old graveyard site - now covered with shops - too!

(Want more on ghosts? Please visit my page, www.HauntedRealEstate.com for boundless resources on all things related to haunted homes, things to consider when selling them, haunted tours, haunted hotels...you get the idea.)

Real estate, especially historic homes, is definitely not dull.

ooooooooh spoooky.  I have an old, old entry here about ghost hunting in Worthington Ohio...actually it is a sad story, the girl who was shot just had to have another surgery.  I  never got one comment on the entry until this morning..it was kind of early Localism.com  when Chris Griffth left a comment.  Reading my associates Chris Griffth has an entry just after this one. spooooooky

I forgot about your  page, http://www.hauntedrealestate.com/ You must have blogged on it last fall? October? on your RT blog.  Or did you blog about it here after you joined?   I know I have been there.  You are the one who really believes in ghosts!  I see three tags for ghosts and this one is not one of them.

Thanks Maureen!!  Yes, I wrote an article about ghosts for Real Town a month ago (and there's a pic there that I took too - full of orbs on the Monterey Ghost Tour). I am, indeed, a believer (like half the American population) after having a couple of experiences myself. It's not like the movie, Sixth Sense, where the little boy says "I see dead people". But I there have been times that I have gotten a very clear impression that a place was haunted, and later learned that it was.  Just like when you go into a house and sometimes it feels like a happy home, othertimes not - or even like there was a divorce or something not so great going on. It's like that.  It's an interesting topic to me, and apparently to a lot of other folks. I get emails from all over the country with people telling me stories about their own experiences and then sharing that they've never told the story to anyone else because they didn't want to be viewed as crazy.

Thanks for your nice comment!

Mary - I viewed a 120 year old home in Minnesota a couple of weeks ago with my husband. I didn't tell him at the time but I just wanted to get out of the house asap. I specialize in old homes but I have never felt like I felt that day. I just knew something was wrong with the home. As we were leaving my husband went outside to put the kids in the car, so that left me in the home all alone. I had to walk from the back to the front to lock up, and by the time I was half way through the home, I was almost running. I can't explain it but it was just creepy. I realized when I was finally outside that I had been holding my breath the whole time. I don't know what it was and I laughed as I walked away.

The house photos are working linking over to look at.

St Pete has a walking Ghost Tour of downtown every evening that I just blogged about. The exterior of the building has been corrupted by the additions when they converted the Detroit Hotel to condos - perhaps that's why the ghost of the old hotel is still wandering around!

Mary - do you have the same content on the non-main-page pages of your HauntedRealEstate website and your  ValleyOfHeartsDelight website?

Thanks for posting to the Buildings group.

Hi Sharon,

Thanks for the tip on the St. Pete Ghost Tour - I will check that out!

To answer your question, no, the content at those URLs of mine is different though I do have a link to that blog on the main site. (I actually have a whole lot of sites.)

My "main" real estate sites are www.PopeHandy.com and www.ValleyOfHeartsDelight.com. Both are somewhat general (info for buyers/sellers, finding a home etc.) but have different strong suits and niches addressed. The Valley of Heart's Delight site has some history on that moniker for Silicon Valley, for instance.

www.HauntedRealEstate.com is really just one (huge) page on the Valley of Heart's Delight site. There is so much content there now that I realize at some point the material will warrant a site of its own. It's not duplicated anywhere.

You have a good idea, though. On the Haunted site I should do a link to the posts about haunted spots in LG. Thank you for thinking of it, I hadn't!

Mary, I think interlinking will be more and more important - just as duplicate content is dangerous.

Mary, I had actually stumbled onto that site before....it is absolutely amazing.  I am in and out of homes that people swear they hear or see or FEEL things all the time, and I believe them and try to work with them to dispell that energy....

Great post, it's bookmarked and I'm sure I'll be back on there for hours again :)

I love this kind of stuff. Canon City is suppose to be haunted. And my building in Pueblo has to be, it used to be the OLD court house, they would hang people out back - about where I park!
