I  just couldn't resist sharing these beautiful pictures with my friends at AR.

When you think there is nothing positive and things seem to all be going wrong, you have find something beautiful in the moment.  This is my moment!

This is my home in Allendale, Michigan.  I live up against state land.  I was typing away here on Active Rain and I happened to look out the window and I see this incredible picture.  I just took these pics 5 minutes ago.  It is the most beautiful kind of snow.  The big, fat, heavy flakes that stick to everything can be pretty incredible eye candy.    There is no wind and this is our first big snow. I love the cozy feeling when it snows like this.   Man I hope my husband got the snow blower fixed!!

This is a lilac tree in my front yard.

This is what I see from my kitchen windows.  Behind the tree line about 5/10 of a mile is the Grand River.  You can see my horses off to the right.

This is a random picture of the fence post.

This is what it looks like from my front window.

This is my horse Scout.  He thinks I could not have possibly walked out here for anything but to give him a treat.  I forgot the treat :-((

He is a tennessee walker.

Lastly, I had to give the others fair billing.  The black one on the left  is Joey my husbands horse and he is a Tennessee Walker  The other one is my daughters horse, Dakota he is Morgan/Arabian.Allendale Michigan Winter Horses

WOW! I cannot believe it is snowing like that this early in the season! But I am not complaining because I completely enjoyed your gorgeous photos. What an amazing piece of land you live on, I love your horse was well!

I guess I am kind of jelous! It is very dry out here in the west, no sign of snow in sight!

I hope you and your family have a terrific Thanksgiving!

Terrie - I am so glad you enjoyed them.  I probably over posted today--never posted two in one day much less three but I really didn't care about the points.  I just wanted people to see this.

Cheri - I bet your looking at the same thing.  Oh here come the girls- bus just pulled up --about to get noisy in your house.  No whining Anna LOL

Beautiful pictures.  We don't get to see much snow down here-maybe once every 2 or 3 seasons.  We usually get the ice and sleet stuff.  Thanks for sharing.

You've really been getting the snow in the east Tami! I'm not ready to accept it, but I better change my mind quick - it's scheduled to show up here man'ana!

Tami, The pictures are beautiful--and I too was amazed at the amount of snow you have already.  It's unseasonably cold here and we're in, I believe, for a frigid winter.

Tami-Great post and beautiful photos, I love snow, as long as I am inside looking out, I don't think the horses were as thrilled about the snow as you, but they look beautiful.   Thank you for calling today and helping me with my first "blog" it is up and I truly appreciate your extra efforts and sincere help.

Tami,

Those are some very nice photos and right now I am glad that it is you in the snow and not me. ;-)  I do like the idea of a cozy feel tho if I don't have to go out in it.

Hi Tami - beautiful pictures and I am glad you're keeping all that snow your way for now.  It's way too early for it here, and I'm just not ready for it yet.

These pictures will show southerners just what beauty they miss by having only one season...  ;-)

Tami,

The photos are beautiful.  I like your horses, too.  My horses always had fun in the first snow.  I would watch them from my window.  They ran around playing in the "white stuff" and make "horse angels" in the snow.  I miss looking out my window and seeing the horses.

Warm wishes to you and your family (including the horses) for a Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving!

Pam- I'll take snow over ice and sleet any day!!!!  Glad you enjoyed the pics.

Deborah - I told it to head your way . .LOL

Carole - I was kind of surprised myself.  All this snow came down in about three hours--it was really snowing.  One of my collegeues here in Michigan put on his Facebook "Only in Michigan can you mow the lawn one day and shovel the next"  I thought that was hilarious.

Dona - Actually the horses love the snow.  They tend to play more in the snow.  What they hate is the when is "slushes" out.  They get soooooo cold!!

Kathy - Yeah poor Scout.  He is my baby and a very interesting horse.  He is very regal.  If you saw my video of him he is a very proud boy BUT he also a very scared boy.  Someone beat the snot out of him before I got him.  YOu raise your hand and he jumps.  It took about 3 years for him to trust me and he still has trust he has yet to give me.

Debe- I agree with you.  My husband just extened the paddock area where we keep them in the winter.  Now  I can see them right out my kitchen window!!

Don - Your my hero - thank you for always commenting on my blog!!

Tami - Love the pictures! I was so happy to move to Tennessee from Chicago to get away from the COLD. But I do miss the snow. I'm happy if we get one good snow here each year. Gives me a reason to stay in and light the fire! Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Tami, OK. This was the post that I was looking for. Pictures of your horses!!! I just got sidetracked w/ some of your other thoughtful posts.  Scout is so handsome. A chestnut pinto Walker. How cool is that?! I do love a splashy pinto! 2 more boys- I can't ignore a handsome black Walker. When I was my little sister's 4H leader she had a black Walker Throughbred cross. He was a nice jumper named, apropriately Aviator. One of my other 4Hers had a Morab (Morgan Arabian cross). Even 'tho he was a kids little 4H horse he moved like a big Dressage warmblood!   Your pictures are lovely. I'll have to check out Kathy's picture posting group.    Thanks for the memories :~)))

Hi Tami,  Recoperating horse girl here. Tobiano is my all time favorite spotted color breed! I love a splashy colored horse. Scout is awesome! My little sister's Walker/TB cross was not gaited. He was ideal for hunt seat riding and jumping. We're getting a bit of snow here (although never as much as the west side of Michigan) so I can't wait to get on my Dutch horse Jackpot and go for a ride. I have to be content just watching my 5 boys through the picture window. It's good to see them all snuggly warm in their blankets with the snow whirling all around. Hmmm, I think that it's time for my sweet husband, Matthew to go out and toss them a few apples as a midday treat :~)

You have taken some of the most beautiful pictures! In black and white they are stunning. I love the one of the fence posts and the one out your front window. Gorgeous! We haven't had any snow in a few years now. I live about 20 miles north of Knoxville. Thanks so much for sharing!

Tami-Scout is a gorgeous horse.  The others are beautiful also.  I had horses growing up and haven't had any in years and miss it quite a bit.   The scenery pics from your window are great--now if only the bitter cold didn't come with the snow!  Love the snow and scenery and seem to hate the cold more and more each year.  Happy New Year!

Gwen - Did you make them black and white--that is very cool.  I'm glad you enjoyed them!

Debra - Scout is my baby and he is very special to me.  Someone beat the tar out of him before I got him so he trusts very few people.  I can understand why you would miss the horses--I can't imagine them not in my life!

Tami--oooooh that is awful about Scout!  I hate hate hate when I hear about animal cruelty.   Horses especially face this all the time with people who believe beatings are the way to train or get what they want out of them.  I think anyone beating any defenseless animal should be shot.   Onto brighter things...(LOL) the relationship you have with Scout must be amazing especially if he is afraid of others.  I wish him a verrrry long life since he looks well cared for and loved!  He is lucky you found him.

Debra - Thank you so much for the kind words.  With horses, some need it.  Dakota kicked at me once last year and got a whip laced across his butt.  Hasn't done it since. And if a horse bites . . in the words of a very famous horse trainer, "if a horse bites you have 5 seconds to try and kill him" but no more~
