Honestly, it isn't that bad. I suppose it heavily depends on your perspective, your location, and your ability to see through mud.
As any small business owner, it is imperative that I know exactly what my production was for the year.
If I were to listen to CNN, FOX, or well most of my colleagues, I would be certain that my annual performance would be a sight for poor eyes.
It isn't. My numbers are not exactly any reason to jump on a plane to Bali, but they certainly aren't any reason to jump off a building either.
I am pleased.
This has been a difficult year mentally, physically, and as with any Realtor, emotionally. Numbers don't lie though, right?
I continue to hold Public Open Houses and Broker Open Houses.
I stay current on market trends.
I research all marketing avenues.
And I carefully apply a lesson learned from my grandmother.
"You are your thoughts, your thoughts become your actions, your actions become your life."
Now to a 9 year old, this saying was as mind boggling as a Rubik's Cube, but as I grow older (not that much older..ahemmmm), it makes perfect sense.
My clients have no doubt that I provide them with factual real estate advice, but they also know, I am not going to gloom and doom.
They appreciate it. They say so, often.
When the mud gets thick, and boy has it become thick, grab your waders (for city folk that means really tall boots, or plastic overalls), and keep going.
If you are a Realtor, encourage your clients. Keep them well informed, engage them in the process.
If you are a seller, understand your home is now a product to sell. Be proactive, positive, creative, and by all means, TURN OFF THE NEWS.
If you are a buyer, congratulations. Find a Realtor that is experienced, well informed, and well connected.
Listen to my grandmother! If you are good, she will make you the most unbelievable Blueberry Cobbler in the world. I know, trust me.
For the statistically minded:
My closed transactions came from the following:
*in the order of source for most closed transactions*
1. Referrals from past clients.
2. Blogging on Active Rain, yep.
3. Public Open Houses
4. My Website.
