From a Retired Police Officer,

Very Scary Realtor Article

Rebbeca wrote the following short blog  "This article just found its way into my inbox and I had to share it.  I was covered in goosbumps after I read it.  The article was written by a Realtor from Delaware, I believe.  I have no idea how she remained composed during this ordeal.  I think I would have immediately gone into "fight or flight" mode.  But this one remained calm, which probably saved her life."

"I recently watched "The Strangers" the other night, and I found this article almost as creepy as the movie."

Here is my response to what I feel about that very uncomfortable situation experienced by the unfortunate Agent that showed the house.

 Retired Police Point Of View:

That was quite a story.  I often wonder if female Real Estate Agents should carry something to protect themselves from a possible attack. Before any Agent shows a house it should be required by law that we conduct some kind of background check on our clients.  After all, we have no clue if our clients had prior arrests for commiting violent crimes.  Furthermore, it is possible that the buyer may also be mentally ill.

Since there are no laws in place to protect Realtors that I am aware of, there should be some type of safety training at our offices.  All Agents should be instructed to take as much information as possible.  House telephone number, cell number, address, where the person works and lives, full name and date of birth, copy of drivers license, height, weight, etc.  Perhaps they can fill out a form  with all the aforementioned information documented.

Food for thought, do not put any thoughts that you may be violated out into the Universe.  All is well and  you will be safe on all showings, this is how you should think. Your thoughts will manifest into a physical realtity, so becareful what you thnk.   If you still think something bad may happen, you are probably right.  Keep a positive mindset.

If that does not work for you, keep your client in front of you at all times.  Keep your keys in your hands to defend yourself on any potential threat.

Place God first and you should not have any problems.  That women in the article was probably nervous and scared from the beginning.

Peace
Charles
