Okay, since I told Kristin Moran that I love MeMes, she stuck me with two of them this week :) Honestly, I do love them and think it is a great way to get to know our friends on Active Rain a little bit better. So, okay, here it goes -
1) I wanted to be a Realtor since I was 7 years old. I grew up in a single parent welfare family and always wanted to have that Great American Dream of Home Ownership - you know the white picket fence, the golden retriever, the whole thing (minus the kids). I also wanted to become an investor so I would never be poor again. I've kind of gone on overload as two of my greatest joys in life are helping others to buy their first home and to provide clean, upgraded housing to my tenants. I take great pride in being a conscientious landlord and own properties in several states.
2) I love to read. Several years ago I started keeping track of how many books and how many pages per year that I read. The first year I logged 8,300 pages. The next year I logged 8,800 pages. Then I decided to set a goal for myself to read 10,000 pages in one year. Well, I hit 10k by October so I decided to raise my goal to 12,000 pages or an average of a thousand pages a month. After hitting 13,200 pages that year I raised my goal to 15,000 pages or 41 pages per day. Well, on New Years Eve afternoon, I finished a book and hit 15,032 pages. What an amazing accomplishment that I am still proud of. And somehow I found enough time to sell 30+ houses per year, still travel and still have a social life. Amazing what one can do when they don't make tv a priority in life. Reading is so much more fun than television in my opinion.
Now with 41 pages per day as an average, there are a rare few days that I don't read at all, rarely any days that I read less than fifteen pages (say if I am tired at night) and there are some rainy days where I can curl up infront of the fireplace with a book and a few cups of tea and read 300 pages in a day. I get most of my reading in at bedtime in the dark with my Itty Bitty Book Light on as I find it relaxes me and is the perfect way to end my day. I don't like to read books less than 300 pages unless there is a compelling reason to - they are just over too quickly. I love epics that I can sink my teeth into - 800 pages is a nice number :)
3) I must be able to gauge my performance or I don't have as much fun. I cannot bike ride without an odometer/speedometer, cannot run or walk without a pedometer, cannot kayak without a gps, cannot use my skiing machine without counting how many turns I do, cannot do calisthenics without recording how long I worked out for, etc., etc. See above with recording how many pages I read in a year. Everything is more fun for me when I can keep track of my performance.
Half Time. Intermission. Break Time. Three more? How am I going to come up with three more useless factoids about moi? Have to dig deep for these next ones.
4) I don't mind being alone. I ski and bicycle alone a lot because no one has the free time or inclination that I do. I travel alone often and have gone on vacation as long as three weeks by myself. I enjoy talking to the locals and other tourists and I always have a book handy for entertainment when I need it. Of course, I could just sit and enjoy a view for hours with no other stimulation needed.
5) I love photography. In the old days of film cameras, I could shoot 40 rolls of film on a two week vacation. I can't even guess how many digital photos I have taken. As above with gauging things, everything is more fun for me if I have a camera in my hands.
6) I have amazing stamina and attention span. I can do almost anything for hours on end and never get tired or bored. I can swim a mile and a half, bicycle a hundred miles in a day and have worked in the office as much as 93 hours in one week. When I am a woman on a mission, I can accomplish anything. Its just a matter of finding the proper motivation to get me going.
Okay, time to tag a few of my friends -
TAG, YOU GUYS ARE ALL IT!!!!!
