Think, "Are You Ready for Some FOOTBALL?!", and then sing "Are You Ready for Some SHOPPING?!?!?"

Kittery Maine Outlet Shopping - Ann Cummings Maine REALTOR

I bet all the hard-core shoppers probably already have their plans and lists ready for all those stores that open at 4am, 5am, 6am, etc!

I even saw signs here in the Kittery Maine area that there are whole shopping areas that are planning to open at midnight on Thanksgiving night!  I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I read that - who on earth needs to shop at midnight on a holiday night?  And what about the poor employees that have to be there to work?  Jeez.....

Anyway, I found out about a website that tells you what stores are having what specials going on on "Black Friday", that most notorious shopping day of the year.  Twitter pal @JackLeblond twittered about it a couple of days ago, and naturally I had to check it out.

It really does give you all the details on "Black Friday" sales all over the country.  And, get this, you can take advantage of a lot of these while not even leaving your own home - shop online and get some of the same deals.

Check out this site for "Black Friday" sales and more ---> Black Friday Shopping Info

And if you want to make those deals even sweeter, check out what coupons might be available for items on your shopping list by checking out these website that a friend sent me last week:

www.RetailMeNot.com        www.CurrentCodes.com

If anyone has other favorite websites coupons, shopping codes for savings, etc, please feel free to leave them in your comments.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving tomorrow, and then rest well for all that "Black Friday" shopping!!

Hey Ann, thanks for the heads up. I'm not sure if I'm going out on that day or not. It's for sure, however, that I won't be out at 5:00 am. The deals just couldn't be good enough to get me out at that time of day!

Ann, someone sent me that link a few days ago and I can't wait until Friday!  I'm all for finding a great deal. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Ann!

Ann it use to be that "Black Friday" was the start of the shopping season and all the sales, but this year some of the places are getting a head start around here, they are already announcing sales for tomorrow.  YIKES!!!!

Oh Ann Ann... If you only knew.

Kim is set to meet a friend at 11:30 tomorrow night for this shin dig. CRAZY right? But that's not all. After that she'll come home for a nap before embarking on her next journey at 4 a.m.!

On another note, both my sister in law and mother in law are working at the outlets at midnight tomorrow night! They'll probably have to drink so much coffee to resist the sleepies from the turkey that they won't be able to sleep at all after they get home.

Great post;)

Hi Marianne - I'm with you about the deals not being worth getting out that early to shop.  I admit I have gone out shopping on that day, but not that early, and not likely ever again.  Too many before Thanksgiving sales and I don't need or want anything that badly...

Hi Linda - I love great deals, too, but I pretty much gave up shopping on that day a few years ago.  There may be a local store or two that might entice me, but not any of the regular stores most think of.

Hey George - there have been a lot of early sales this year, so many that I wondered what they could possibly offer after Thanksgiving to make them any better, other than free!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh Josh - you're kidding, right??  I somehow think you're not, though.  Your poor in-laws having to work tomorrow night..... when I saw those signs all I could do was shake my head.  Next thing we know, they'll just be open on Thanksgiving Day.  I think it's awful that they're opening at midnight like that.  The shoppers will shop whenever the stores are open, so why not just stick to something 'normal'.  Good grief!

And Kim is really doing the midnight run and then out again at 4am?!?!?!?!?!?  She must definitely be a hard-core shopper.  You going to be sleeping while all that's going on?

Great comment  ;-)

Ann- I had no idea....talk about a stress free shopping environment :)  Now I can't see any reason someone wouldn't take advantage of this if they had plans to shop that day.  Happy Thanksgiving....and good shopping to you if that's what you're going to do :)

Hi Kathy - if I had been planning to be out in those crowds tomorrow, knowing I could get the same stuff online with some free shipping specials thrown, I'd be all over that!  But, Black Friday shopping isn't for me any more - used to one of the masses, but gave that up a few years ago.

I hope you have a very nice Thanksgiving Kathy,
Ann

Ann,

Please don't let my wife and daughter see this post or they'll start looking for these stores when we are in Orlando...hey I thought this was a Disney trip and not a department store run?:) Happy Thanksgiving!

Great info. I'm not sure I will make it out tomorrow or not. I usually don't like the crowds. This year, I am thinking there will be some great sales a few days before when the merchants realize they are not in the black. Who knows but the mood around here and the country is folks are really  cutting back. I know we are, big time.

Have a peaceful, day Ann. I know it will be difficult and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I will be sleeping. Olivia and I might even go out for a little father daughter breakfast! Kim's already been up cutting out coupons. She went to the store at like 7 this morning to get the paper. It's insanity!

Ann:  After too many years in the retail business, there is nothing that could get me to anything other than a grocery store tomorrow.  A shop-a-holic I am not.  Have fun and remember to be friendly when you're out tomorrow.  I always encountered the worst attitudes on Black Friday.

10:41am • #12

CHECK THAT. Kim has just informed me that she will NOT be coming back from her midnight trip. Yes, you read that right. She will be pulling an all night shopping spree!

Sounds like I should be trying to sell houses today:)

Hi Neal - I thought your trip was supposed to be all about Disney - maybe Wendy thought that meant Disney stores and the playland!  ;-)  Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Chris - I was in retailing years ago as well, and at this point, I'd be hard pressed to venture near any malls or shopping centers.  You're right about some not-so-nice attitudes in the shopping world - another reason why I don't take part anymore.

Hey Josh - Kim is going to be some tired when she finally makes it back home tomorrow, whenever that it.  It sounds like you and Olivia will have plenty of father-daughter bonding time - enjoy it!  And thanks for your call earlier - that was really sweet.   ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi Missy - the crowds are exactly what keeps me away as well.  Here in my area, the stores have already been having deep discount sales, and I've heard that even with those heavy sales going on that business is nowhere near what it should be.

Congrats on the great engagement news, and my deepest thanks and appreciation to your son for his service - I know that's hard to have him ship out now.  Know that he'll be kept in many hearts until he's safely back home.

Thank you for your thoughts and prayers my way.  I hope you all had a really nice Thanksgiving together.

Happy Thanksgiving Ann. Where will you be shopping tomorrow? I think Jay will down at Staples at 6am hoping to pick up a hard drive! Me? I'll be sleeping.

Hi Monika - I'm not going shopping tomorrow, at least not that I'm planning on right now.  I really dislike that kind of shopping - way too many people, rude behavior, and with all the pre-Thanksgiving sales, I can't think of a thing I need or want enough to fight those crowds.

Which Staples is he going to - the one here in Portsmouth or is there one closer to you?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Monika, don't let Ann fool you. She's just trying to throw you and Jay off course so she can get all the REALLY good deals for herself:)

Ha!!! Josh - you're cute!  OK, I did go out shopping - to the grocery store only for eggs and butter.  And that was it!

How was your father-daughter breakfast?  Kim back yet from her marathon shopping spree?

Breakfast was great. Went to Hebert's and had my favorite waiter- Johnny. Kim is home sleeping. I have a feeling she is going to be down for a while. She got back about 9:45 this morning!

Hey Midori - no shopping for me either, other than the eggs & butter.  I saw your post on 'not shopping', and I'm available, too!  I'll look forward to your call....  ;-)

Hi Will - hope you had fun with your shopping friends!  Did they bring you anything from their shopping trips?

Hi Ann,

I'm just following up...did you go out early to shop? I did get to the stores but not until something like 1:00 pm. I'm realy glad I wasn't at the Wal-Mart where folks trampled that poor employee. Do you think Wal-Mart might re-think their Black Friday practices???

8:06pm • #25

Hi Marianne - no, I didn't go out shopping on Friday, although I did run to a grocery store.  I thought what happened at that Wal-Mart store was awful.  There should be something done about that, and I would think their surveillance cameras would have picked that whole thing up.  How horrible that was.  I think all stores should re-think those practices - but will they????

Thanks for checking back in!

I really doubt that Wal-Mart will make changes on their Black Friday sales. However, they might do something to protect staff and patrons...well, one can only hope. This year, I'm doing cyber-shopping. I get a 10% and free shipping at Target. I'm not proud, money's tight. I'll save where I can! Our savings have lost 44%! But, that's a whole post in and of itself.

Hi Marianne - you're most likely right about no changes in those Black Friday sales, sadly.  We can hope they'll make some changes in the future to protect people - that was just horrible.

Nothing wrong with saving money anywhere and everywhere we can!  I think most of us are doing the same thing, saving and cutting costs where we can.  And who doesn't love a bargain - I certainly do!

Happy shopping!
