I went to my brother inlaws tonight for his birthday. He turned 54. In his years of wisdom, he has been trying to figure out the usual questions of life. Why are we here? How did we get here? Why when someone does good, good things happen? Why when someone is bad, bad things happen? The usual life questions that many ask at some point as they grow older.
We were watching a movie, I think it's called the Rabbit Hole but I'm not sure. It was a bunch of people, mostly scientists, that were talking about physics and things I have never really given much thought. To be honest, most of it went over my head. However, they started talking about seeing what you want and really wanting what you want. It talked about the real power of desire and more importantly the power of the universe. This got us on an interesting discussion about how this relates to everything I do in real estate and have done in business my whole life.
Since I got in business back when I was young, I knew one thing for certain. And let's face it, when you know something for certain, you are the best at it. My "certainty" was the fact that I knew no matter what, if I treated customers and people in general with respect and an over the top customer service attitude, then I could be successful. Of course I didn't realize at that age how important those thoughts really were back then. Over the years I have spent my life making a lot of money and losing a lot of money. I always say, I have made millions in my lifetime...unfortunately I have lost just a little bit more! But one thing has stayed constant, my desire and belief in helping everyone I can. I guess that was why I started The eHomes Realty Network. I really love helping people become successful. It's one of the things that drives me to be better. If you are one of my members, then you know what I'm talking about.
So back to what I'm talking about. I tend to go off sometimes...sorry! When I had heard people talk about their successes, they always said that they were blessed to be so lucky and that they just tried to help the community, help his family and just be a good person. You hear this over and over again. Why is this? It's actually very simple, and this is what the scientists were talking about tonight, that if you put out positive, caring, loving, helpful thoughts and actions, then the universe will reward you with whatever you need. Think about that for a second. If you truly and honestly desire to help people, you will receive success. I have seen this first hand. I have seen the power of the mind and what positve thinking will do for you. I know when I give, I receive. However, the key is, I don't give to receive. I give for the love of giving. If you are giving just so you can get rewarded, that's not truthful giving. You can't fool the universe. It's sort of like my mirror thing I do nightly. I look deeply into my eyes, down to my soul, and ask myself questions about how I lived my life that day. It's very powerful. But more importantly, I can't fool myself. I can't lie to myself. I know the truth.
Now think about your office you work in, especially if you are one of us in a horrible market (melbourne florida). Think about the Agents that work around you and their attitudes. They are usually sitting around blaming the market fot their failures. They aren't leaving the office to try to generate business. They aren't volunteering their time trying to help others in the community. Unfortunately they become so absorbed in the depression of the situation, that they can't see the positives of the situation. After all, if it's a bad sellers market, then it's a great buyers market. Figure out how to get buyers and your business will succeed. But why are they really failing right now? They are failing because in their minds they have a reason to fail. Others are failing right now too so in their mind they are the victim. They are the victim of the market and there isn't anything they can do about it but complain. Now think of that person, is that you? If you are not making it in this market, it's not the markets fault. If take a 2 hours a day and volunteer somewhere or help another person in any way, things will change. Good things happen to good people. Don't help to get business. Help someone for the sake of helping and see how you feel. First you will realize that you don't have it so bad. Then, you will start to feel good because giving feels good. It's always so much better than receiving. Now that you are feeling good you realize that life isn't so bad and your attitude changes. All of the sudden people look at you with a smile on your face and an extra kick in your step. The next thing you know you are getting referrals and opening your mind to other means of generating business. Did you see what happened? Are you still with me after writing so much? Back to my opening question. Is the universe on your side? If not, it's time to jump off the bandwagon of failure and go help some people who need you. Let the universe in. There really isn't a better feeling in this world. It's outstanding!
