There is something to be said when I can go to my home and feel safe..very safe..or I can drive a car..and work where I want...I can openly express my views..I can make as little money or as much money as I want...and I don't have to worry about being imprisoned for saying the wrong thing. Because the U.S. military..protects me!
I'm not about war..I would rather everyone live in peace and harmony..but I am a realist..and still regardless of my personal feelings about war.... I'm thankful for our U.S. military.
I don't always agree with our government..and I can see beyond enemy lines..I'm safe...I'm FREE and so very thankful...thankful for those that fight for us everyday!
If I see a soldier...I cry and am so overwhelmed with a a wide variety of reasons..it just comes out of me...I can't control it....because I'm grateful.... I cry for appreciation...for their sacrifices..and the gratitude I feel for my FREEDOM!
Soldiers sometimes fear..when its all over and time to go home..how the public will accept them...how they will be able to just have an ordinary life..but most of all will their friends and families love them and understand the new person they have become?
Sometimes..they need to be reminded..of why they fight..why they don't sleep or eat for days on end..and why they volunteer to be away from their loved ones.. Funny thing about the troops...they don't need to think twice....
They have a job to do!
So do we!
So tonight while you are giving thanks..remember those that serve our country. Remember those that will be missed at a Thanksgiving Day gathering.
If you are privileged enough to share Thanksgiving Dinner with a soldier tonight...please give them a special message from me..Midori Miller thanks you and loves you..oh and don't forget kiss them on the cheek..because if there was a soldier close to me....I admit... that is exactly what I would do!

Thanks for the reminder to everyone Midori. I love that video (I posted it last year, great minds think a like) and it makes me cry every time. Happy thanksgiving.
Midori, I love this post and have re-blogged it. I am thankful for the soldiers and I am thankful for people who appreciate the soldiers. I always respect, honor and thank a veteran. Without them, where would we be? A Happy Thanksgiving to all and please remember all we have to be thankful for every day. God Bless America!
Midori - Your video brought me to tears. I cry whenever I hear or see anything that relates to our brave warriors who serve and protect us each and every day. While I cannot be with them personally today, I am so very thankful to have both my son and brother home in the United States this Thanksgiving Day. They have both spent a number of holidays away from their families over the past few years so I know how difficult it is when you have a loved one who can't be with you on such special occasions. God bless our troops and may God bless America!
Hi Midori - I always have a special place in my heart for all military - past, present, and future. My dad served in the Air Force for 23 years, and my grandfather served in the Army as did my uncle, my mom's brother. The military always deserve our thanks and appreciation, no matter one's view on the government, wars, skirmishes, etc. - the US military serves to protect each and every one of us and all of our freedoms. May they always feel the deep appreciation so many of us feel and send their way.
Happy Thanksgiving Midori!

Good evening!
Thank you for not forgetting about our military. I too am a US Navy Veteran that has just return for a 9 month tour in Kuwait in support of Iraqi Freedom. I have been mobilized twice in the past 4 years in support of the war. I pray for everyone of my brothers and sisters in Kuwait, Iraq, Afganistan, the Horn of Africa and other places in the world. We don't have to agree on politics but we should be united when it comes to sending troops in to harms way.
God bless our troops!!

I went to a high school that had more kids from my graduating class going into each branch of the serivce than going to any college. We had two of the three service academies represented. I had a LOT of friends that became career military, and a lot that came from career military families. When we have a reunion, there are people that come from all over the world... The person winning the long distance award may be coming from Korea as easily as Kuwait...
And I am thankful for my friends that choose to stand in front of me to make me safe and to make total strangers safer.
Midori, Thousands of miles away from home, in a foreign country, fighting to protect us. Soldiers deserve more praise than our society delivers. Thanks for reminding us.
Midori you are a true inspiration to what it means to give back to society! Thanks for the links to all of your previous posts about the troops! Love the video! Now I know how to say thank you in passing!
Midori - I appreciate your appreciation for the military. My husband retired from the Army, my son-in-law is a reserve marine, who spent last year in Iraq and my future son-in-law is an Air Force Cadet at the AF Academy in Colorado graduating next year. I'm always appreciative and know their sacrifices they are making. Thanks for sharing and spreading the word. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
