Schofield Barracks, Hawaii, home of the 25th Infantry Tropic Lightning Division, has a long history on the island of Oahu dating back to Oct 1, 1941.

Soldiers fighting in every war all the way back to WW II have trained and been stationed at Schofield Barracks and the adjoining Wheeler Army Airfield.  The history continues on today as the men and women of the Tropic Lightning Division train and participate in missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.  The majority of the Division is currently deployed defending our freedom and combating terrorism.

With history comes change that takes us from the Schofield Barracks of days gone by to the future of the post.

When Schofield Barracks was built, the post was divided up into "Quads".  Within the quads, you could find the headquarters, offices, orderly rooms, supply rooms, arms rooms, barracks, dining facility and more.  Sometimes these Quads would house one unit or in some cases, multiple units.

What I have here is a shot of what is affectionately called "I Quad" by all who lived, worked and trained there.  This was my home before I retired from the Tropic Lightning Division in 2005.  At that time, the Quad housed Soldiers from my Battlion, the 2nd Battalion, 11th Field Artillery Regiment and the 3rd Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment.  The Quad was demolished earlier this year (first video) and months later, the new structures are already under construction.

Enjoy a bit of history.

The first video is from April 2008 and the second video is from November 2008. My what a difference 7 months makes.

Hey Leyland, A Fister......where are you now? Retired or did you get out after a few years? Glad you enjoyed the video but sorry to see the old I Quad demolished. Aloha, David
