Photo of the Day - Bubba's Dilemma...

By
Home Inspector with Complete Home Inspections, Inc. TN Lic#050
Well, AS we all know, water flows downhill, or at least according to the laws of physics it should. However, there is but one prob... The ductwork lies between the kitchen sink and the main sewer line. No prob for OUR hero Bubba! Armed with nothing but a sawzall, two rolls of duct tape and a burning desire to succeed, (not to mention the problem solving skills of an Einstein); our fearless hero tackles what no mere mortal would even begin to conjure up in his wildest of dreams... Yeah Buddy!!!

Seein' is Believin'!!!

Mighty fancy tape job here!!!

As Ol' Bubba would say, "There is more than one way to skin a cat or work around ductwork..."

Join my birthday alarm. It is fast painless and the best part of all, you will be helping me out.

Hey now, that is an idea.  However, I don't think it is suppose to be done that way.

Well, it is better than what might have happened.

1. Just cut the duct and leave it open.

2. Just cut the waste pipe and let it drain where it is.

See? It's not as bad as it could have been.

Michael, I sold one house that when inspected, the inspector found a bucket hanging from the trusses to catch the drip.  We sometimes just need to shake our head with dismay.

Bubba appears to have gone to the McGyverf school of Rube Goldberg solutions.

And this is a home-owner DIY I hope?  Certainly not a licensed HVAC or plumber!

Gotta give 'em credit for creativity.

Maintains the right drop in the drain line so the water doesn't back up.

Actually, coaxial hvac/water lines just might have some "green" applications after all!

Nothing like a little southern engineering.

Michael, thank goodness those people paid for a 3rd party inspector or that would have been an unwelcomed surprize later!

That 100 mph tape has an untold amount of uses. Ole Bubba will yet deluge many other grand uses I am sure.

If your plumbing pipes are held in  place by Scotch tape, duct tape, bubble gum, string, or a combination thereof.... you might be a redneck.
