I have had a new puppy for a week now and have a gazillion pictures to prove it. However, going green has been on my mind and I am posting about that like crazy too.

Then, like a parallel universe...they merge on Earth Day. Not only am I going to save energy by not using my paper shredder, but I keep my little Shih Tzu "Buddy" entertained!

Isn't he cute! Doing his part to save the planet and protect me from identity theft!

I've heard that you can put all those papers into a big rubbermaid bin with some potting soil and some holes in top...

then you can also throw some compost materials in...

and then get some RED WORMS

they'll eat all the paper!

David - is that it??? I am on it! I remember in the '70s some friends were all excited about worm farming. Are those the same worms? I will google and see what happens. I am actually going to start composting this year. It sounds complex but just found this blog that makes it simple enough for anyone to do. Who has time to work?

Sheron, I figure you'll save money on a fitness program too, now that you're on your knees cleaning up after the paper shredder.

He's cute :)

Hey Sheron - Buddy is adorable!!!!  Is that recycled paper that he is tearing up? (lol). Leave it to you to have an environmentalist dog!

Sue - the benefits are endless. He is going to be a big help in my composting efforts.

Maureen - it will be, recycled that is.

Sheron, I need your address. AND don't come looking for me when your dog comes up missing. What an adorable puppy. I love that breed. We have friends with one. They guard him from me.

Sheron, There is an added benefit to having a beautiful puppy paper shredder. You get your daily exercise by picking up little pieces of paper all around your house plus toys, shoes and anything else, his mouth can get. Yeah, you are probably thinking I won't let him do that until he looks at you with those gorgeous eyes and he's the boss!

Enjoy all of the love!

This is probably more than you want to know but he does his business at the fountain in the rocks...good thing he is cute...if only you could see me out there in my robe and baggie...it is a good thing also that I am the only one that takes the pictures...eek!

I will be happy to share...can we upload videos here??? He flies off the sofa like a Ninja Dog instead of just jumping down. He just cracks me up. Thanks for sharing these moments with me.

Sheron - He's absolutely precious.

We too just got a new pet and get this, his name is Buddy.  He's a Hyacinth and now makes bird #3 to our feathered family.

Kathy - what a gorgeous color blue. He looks very sweet. His eyes are darling Isn't Hyacinth a flower? What a small world of Buddies. Does he talk? Is he sitting on the sofa? Do your birds run freely in your home? I had 2 canaries once and they both died. Sad.

PS: I'll bet he would be a really good paper shredder too!

04/23/2007 02:21 PM by Sheron Cardin - how2homestage.com RESA (California Moods Inc)

He's an awesome paper shredder!

He's a Hyacinth Macaw.  They say that the blue will just get richer looking in color (how that's possible is beyond me as his color is so striking now).  He's actually sitting on a perch right next to the couch.  And no, they are not allowed to run freely in the home.  We let them out to sit on the perch and be part of the family which they all love.  The other birds (a harlequin and an umbrella cockatoo) are quite jealous as 'Buddy' is getting tons of attention being the newest member in the family.  Buddy is learning to say "hello" while the umbrella, Margila, tells me constantly just how pretty she is.  She sings at the top of her lungs; "Margila's a Pretty Pretty Girl" (or Bird, depending on her mood).  The Harlequin is named Rocco and despite my numerous attempts to get him to say "hi, mom"; his vocabulary is limited to "hey Rocco.

The middle picture of YOUR Buddy is too precious.

Kathy

Hey!  I love that you are going green, that is what my company is all about.  It is a great marketing niche.  This is our new flyer.  If you have any questions on how to be 'green' let me know!  Also, I can finance loans in Cali, so if you want a good loan officer here in Oregon, let me know!  PS, I have a Yorkshire Terrier, and he is the same way!

Sheron,

It's nice to see a humorous topic. I see your new shredder cross-shreds.

Kathy - thank you for the info on birds. I just don't see how those thick tongues can curl to pronounce words.

Jacob - I visited your web site and I will surely refer you no question. I am so happy you let me know about you and your company. Very cool.

JaneAnne - normally a green smile would sound gross but on you it is beautiful

Gary - talent runs in my family ;)

Kimberly - I am told I can do magic but I think shrinking dogs would be abusing my powers. The fun thing about Shis Tzu's is they stay puppy size and keep their puppy personalities. Loving it!

I must admit, he is adorable.  My sister has a Shih Tzu and he's been her paper shredder since the day she got him.  It's also nice to know that there are people that care about the earth.

Sheron, what a wonderful post! I have a Siberian Husky pup -- in addition to shredding paper he loves to toilet paper the house and goes after shoes with heels! I'm down to one pair of pumps! Time to go shopping! Kodiak

Hi Mary - I had to go to your profile and see where you live...that is a lot of snow and that is a really big puppy. I would imagine you are lucky that is all your puppy likes to chew on...he looks like he could do what ever he darn well please. Beautiful! I used to have a Malamute. They are wonderful family pets. And hey, shopping is not a bad thing...maybe he needs his own heels?

Sheron, I don't know how I missed this post.  I have a terror as well.  I thought he would grow up and learn some manners; he's three years old and I'm still waiting :)  I LOVE these dogs!!

Hi Sheron,

I had to check back in! You make me smile!

Kodiak is about 8 months old and that picture was taken during one of our spring snowstorms...we had a green Christmas and a white Easter...Mother Nature was confused this year!

Kodiak was born about the same time we put our malmute mix, Smokey, down after 16 years. Smokey was truly a part of the family and my kids don't remember a day without him!

Kodiak is quite a character - so much personality!

You're right about shopping! He is making sure I keep my wardrobe up to date!

Carole -Skylar looks like a Shih Tzu impersonator! How cute is he. Is he the one that is banned to the kitchen? You have got to get this book or go to oprah.com and read about her show yesterday...you can train your dogs to do anything with this gals technique...set him free.

Read an excerpt from The Loved Dog by Tamar Geller.

Mary - what a cool name. Sorry about your Smokey! I wish you many years with Kodiak.

04/26/2007 09:27 AM by Sheron Cardin - how2homestage.com RESA (California Moods Inc)

Nope, Sheron, he's a full Shih Tzu.  I DID see Oprah, did she ditch the dog whisperer?  I was impressed and am going to get that book. There's got to be hope for Skylar yet!  I have always had Shih Tzu's and he's the first one I've had a problem with....

04/26/2007 09:54 AM by Carole Provenzale Owner, Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Feng Shui Long Island & New York City)

I am glad you saw the show. The potty training thing in the cage is a tough one for me. Buddy is about 95% there but I am told that in a couple of months they forget everything they were taught...is that true? I have never ever been so taken by a dog before. He looks into my eyes as though he is going to die without me. What a manipulator!

04/26/2007 04:25 PM by Sheron Cardin - how2homestage.com RESA (California Moods Inc)

PS: Will you tell Skylar that I apologize about the mistaken identity...I new at this dog species thing...my other dogs are Selma specials that were abandoned in the field.

04/26/2007 04:27 PM by Sheron Cardin - how2homestage.com RESA (California Moods Inc)

He's helping you save your identity so you can shop for him! Smart dog. Looks like you have a new assistant!

Sheron, that was too funny! He is adorable and what a great worker with little pay...
