How does one post a Blog for maximum effect, without being unprofessional?

After I finish a Blog, I sit staring at the computer wondering which selection I should select to post.

I have been posting some of my past Blogs to draft.  The I re-read hoping to make sure the spelling and grammar are OK (which is a huge weakness of mine).  Then post in a day or two. Again many times staring into the screen wondering which selection makes the most sense.

I have searched past blogs for advice and did not come up with anything.  Probably there I just didn't find it.

Does it make sense to post the same content to different categories (if content is appropriate) to increase exposure?  For example on Localism to specific area?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Mark - Great post that generated some really good feedback in the comments. I picked up a couple of good tips.

Mark,

think about your audience, who would like to hear what you have to say...it helps me...sure, you can find lots of groups to post to but when you keep this question in mind you will become more selective...hope this simple approach wil help...

Keep blogging!

Bo

Mark, I've only been here about 1 month, but I have been told that you can post to a maximum of 5 groups, to the AR community, to localism and your oustide blog.  It's very important that you read the description of each group you join because there are spectifics there as to what you can and cannot post. I tried to post something to the ARNewbies and it was removed because the only inofrmation that can go in there is something that will help a newbie. Based on the comments you are getting, there appears to be a lot of confusion out there!

For exposure to AR members you want to post your blogs to the most active groups or the ones with members who will comment the most.

For exposure to clients you probably want to utilize the channels effectively and write posts that relate to each channel. On top of that split up your focus to the categories. I dont know that it matters which category you choose other than making sure if its a post for consumers it goes there.

Whats more effective the channels, groups, or categories? An effective approach would probably be utilizing them all.

I am not sure about this but look forward to reading the comments. I have never re-posted any of my blogs and frankly have posted less than 50 times, which is just a drop in the barrel compared to the hundreds of times many in my area post. It will be interesting to see the follow up here.

Y'all do know you can create your own Channels right? For instance my AR Channel is "Crap". I'm not here for the same reasons all of you are. But say you work a specific market such as Vernon Hills, you can snag that Channel and all your Local-ism stuff will be in one spot which will generate the clicks. Or not :)

P.S. Mark as you can see my spelling sucks. Someday they'll integrate the Google Spell Check with the AR platform. It used to work then a Code Monkey screwed it up and now more than 100,000 people know my spelling sucks. See the green letters? :)

My bad. They fixed it. Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never mind :)

I post to as many relevant areas as possible... but I'm new so I don't know if that works but it seems to make sense and I get a good turnout as far as comments are concerned.

Everyone,

This is my first Featured Post and everyone has been so helpful with many GREAT comments.  I really appreciate everyone's comments, thank you very much.  Those who can relate to my spelling and grammar impairment, I normally write in word and then cut and paste into AR, which helps (not the cure, at least for me, but helps).

For the best way to post I'm still digesting all the great comments and hope to get more.   Thanks again to everyone.

Mark,

Great inquiry!  I have been asking myself the exact questions and when I spoke to my "AR Mentor" she advised me to start posting during normal hours when people are on the site.  I guess my crazy hours are great for me and not for my blogs.

I have written what I thought were good topics but no or very little responses.  I have lost interest because I don't know what to do next.

I'll keep an eye on your blog to see if someone gives more details...Thanks.

You get 5 groups... pick wisely and don't pick 5 groups that have all of the same people.  Do pick 5 groups where the content is appropriate... when I surf groups I see things about blogging etiquette in groups about video (not actually an example, but I didn't want to call anyone out).

Select the Channel (or create the channel) based on the content.  There is also getting it to the right area (Consumer/RE Professionals)...

The most important thing is to post it in areas it belongs, not where you think it is going to be seen.

I post in the most appropriate groups first, then to localism if its appropriate.  I have problems with the active rain channels and what one is the most effective.
