Does this only happen to me?.

My cell phone rings while having a Holiday sit down and here is how it goes: "Yeah hi Steve it's Mike, the guy that bought that house last week". Yes, Mike I'm having Thanksgiving dinner with my family what can I do for you. Well the Alarm has been going off since I opened the door, and I'm wondering if "YOU CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT THAT".   Sure Mike did you give the Alarm Company a call, that I gave you a couple of weeks ago? No, I have never spoken to them. Ok, I'll call you back in a minute, I call the prior owner who is also with Family half way across the country, and he gives me the old code, but reminds me he doesn't know if it's going to work anymore because he canceled the account the day of the closing. Yeah, Hi mike try 32***31 enter, see if that works? Wow that's got it thanks Steve, now that I have you on the phone can you help me get my Cable Tv, turned on. Did you call the number I gave you two weeks ago to change the account into your name. Well no not yet but we drove up for the Holiday now my kids want to watch the Television and I wondered.........

Am I the only one that shares the utility information weeks before the closing and still has to look like the bad guy when the new owner doesn't bother to call and set up their account?

Here are few of the good ones in the past: Midnight locked-out, I think I left my Coffee pot on and we are three hours away now, We took the ashes out of the fireplace and put them in a bag on the porch (a paper bag on a wooden porch?)..    I'll bring marshmallows.

Share your ...I  got Called out story...

Steve... No you are NOT the only one that gets these calls.  Does this make you feel better?  Yesterday when I was in NH having Thanksgiving with friends and family, I get a call from a client that bought a house back in SEPTEMBER.  Yup... September.  They called me on THANKSGIVING, no not to wish me and my family well.. but to let me know that they got a package delivered to them that should have gone to the sellers.  They wanted me to call the other agency and let them know about this.

I asked them a simple question..  Do you think that real estate office is open today?  It is Thanksgiving, I'm in the middle of dinner and at this point think your best bet is to wait until Monday, and bring it to the post office and have "forward to new address" put on the outside.

Steve, none of this is rocket science... why do they have to come to us on Thanksgiving with their problems... can't they wait until Friday, today?

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.

I don't have many 2nd home sales...usually they are primary residences. Did you at least get to eat the meal while it was still hot??

LOL...the closest I have ever come was a client who called at 10pm on Saturday night to let me know his wife thought she packed the house keys in a box that was in the moving van (they were in their vehicle).  Could I help?

Yeah, sure...hold on...here we go...take down this number:  xxx.555.1212.  AAA Locksmith! 24 hour service.

Whaddya think?  I make copies of all my clients' keys?  LOL

Monika, I'm the cook in my family at least for Thanksgiving. Sounds Like having a personal cook is better.

He Steve, because I deal with a lot of lake homes, I get some of these every now and then.  One, call I got, the lady was sure she left her curlling iron on.  I went in and sure enough, it was on and it had already made a burn mark on the counter top!

Bill, where you able to style your hair while it was hot..waste not want not?..Like I said I have had a couple coffee pot calls, and I'm not kidding about the paperbag and hot coals on the deck, I had to call the fire department and the owner needed a new deck later.

Funny stuff (but a sad commentary on humanity).  What were they thinking?

Guess that's why my cell phone has an OFF button.  Sometimes it is okay to just turn it off and deal with it tomorrow.

Erby, My phone was in a packet pocket when it started ringing, so naturally I grabbed it, wouldn't make that mistake on the next Holiday.
