Well, my youngest son is a few weeks away from being three years old and he's growing up so fast. He is making his developmental milestones so much more quickly than his older brother. He's completely potty-trained now. He's basically well-mannered and sweet, too.
We have been working on using the correct pronouns; you know--He, She, It, We, They, Him, Her, It, Them, and their associated verbs/action words. Well, 2-year-old Jon has had an interesting time with male and female pronouns and typically has just referred to everything as "he" or "him." No biggie. I'm sure everyone learns that way. I don't cringe anymore when he is talking about me and refers to me as "him" or "he." I just (hopefully!) patiently correct him and say "her" or "she" and go about my business. More recently, we have been correcting his "sir" (as in "Yes, Sir!") to "Yes, Ma'am!"
It's very weird to be female and called "sir." I guess it'd be normal if I were in the military, but I'm not. I started out life as a Navy brat, then moved to U.S. Air Force wife, and now am just a mild-mannered real estate agent. So, I have nevered (to my knowledge) been referred to as "sir."
Anyway, just a little while ago, when Jon was complete with his dessert after dinner, I asked him to please clean up his eating area and be sure to wash his hands. He automatically said, "Yes, Ma'am!" I was so pleased. I did the happy Mommy dance and clapped while jumping up and down in place. Goofy, but effective. I said, "Yay!, Jonathan!"
Hope he's not too scarred from goofy Mommy antics so that he grows up well-adjusted. He's already cute, so I'm not worried about that. I just want to make sure he speaks well (please read "grammatically correct") and can string a few sentences together. Looks like he's well on his way. :)
