Now is the time for celebration and those parties that always seem to sneak up on us.  I don't know about you, but I need to write everything down on my calendar... I schedule my activities and I think about what to wear.  Should I buy something new, should I mix and match a new look, should I borrow something from a friend? Where is it anyway? Friend's house or downtown. Formal or informal and what is the lighting like?  I hope it is low light... gotta hid those wrinkles.  Don't want to wear white in bright light... we aren't into the sunglass thing right now, nor do I want to dress all in black... how glum.

Most of the parties are with good friends, thank goodness... but did I wear that dress last year? Don't want to be in the same thing. But, I can always add different accessories right? So where is that lil' black dress?  What about the pictures... should I turn to the right or the left?  Full smile or just a subtle one? Oh there goes my hair again.  Darn that cowlick... is that another wrinkle!

What is a stager to do?

Have you ever thought that your life at this time is just one big staging project?

Lori ~ I have to ask myself if I've worn a particular outfit to a get together with the same people before.  This year I have a new one I'm going to, so I'm safe to wear whatever I've got in my closet. : )  Then there's the accessorizing - do I go simple with small stud earrings and a watch/bracelet?  Or, do I add the matching ring and necklace?  Maybe it's the same as decorating; less is more?

Lori - you're so right! Here's my solution. Once I had my kids I gave up caring! :) Seriously, NO ONE remembers what you wore to a party last year or even last week. They are much too concerned with whether YOU remember that THEY wore the dress they're wearing once before. If they actually noticed, in my opinion, they have WAY too much time on their hands. A new accessory like a colorful piece of jewelry will be certain to make any black dress feel new again and no one will recognize the dress. Have fun at all those parties and don't give a hoot what anyone else thinks. It will make your life so much easier! :)

I bought a new "little black dress" a while back, but haven't worn it yet...and won't be wearing over the Chirstmas /New Year time, so I guess, I'll have to wear it to the symphony.
