How sad! Not to change the subject, but staying in line with senseless tragedy, did you hear about the WalMart employee trampled to death. They opened for Black Friday and ran him over repeatedly.
What a horrible, scary thing to have happen, especially as I sit here with my nearly one year old son and my two newborn twin niece and nephew.
Tragic! Can't blame the parents completely, that's why they are called accidents. It is a good idea to secure the tv's though
Jim,
I have a four year old, this is horrible. I've never heard of such, but I appreciate this post. I am definitely aware now.
Have a wonderful holiday season.

What a tragic story. Securing the tv's is a good idea...but there are many other dangers in the home we need to be aware of as well.
Jim, Good reminder for grandparents too. After the children are out we go back to "normal" living again, instead of "childproofing" the house.
That is a tragic story, I couldn't agree more! We need to make sure that things like TVs are on a stable platform, we also need to make sure that heaters and fireplaces work properly and are safe. Good reminder.
Jim - Thanks for bringing awareness to all of us regarding TV's, I also wanted to add that furniture such as tall chest of drawers and hutches will sometimes have straps on the back of furniture to secure to the wall for this same reason. It is important to remember to secure.
What a sad story. I hope your blog will help save some lives. thanks for sharing.

What a tragic story, but God there are so many "accidents" that can happen every day. Great to be reminded to be careful but also great to be reminded enjoy life, it's too precious!
Hi Jim, As a child growing up in a large family (9 kids!) my parents learned early on to secure anything loose and remove anything harmful because if a kid could get hurt by it, they most certainly would! I extrapolate this to my horses. Horses are a lot like toddlers. If they can get hurt on something, they will. So keep their pastures safe.
