The SPCA is a nonprofit organization that cares for animals.  It takes in many homeless pets per day.  They care for them physically as well as emotionally.  It is not all dogs and cats, however.  They often get horses, birds, and an occasional pot belly pig.  Every Year there is a contest held called 'PetFlix Film Festival'.  The Grand Prize is $2500!  Entries must be received by May 15th with a minimal $10 fee.  I love this contest because the entries are very creative and, let's face it, I love animals.  This year I am considering entering the contest.  The competition is fierce but I am in real estate so I am used that.

Here are some previous winners- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwbTc4SGDFY&eurl=http://www.spca.org/site/PageServer?pagename=petflixfilmfestival_videos&feature=player_embedded

And check out- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gkjM_ZHynwE&feature=channel

They are too cute to miss!  I will try my best to be a worthy adversary.

BTW- If you are considering pet adoption please give the beautiful animals at the SPCA a chance.  They are always looking for a good home.

MEL, There is a Vet next to my office who does the check ups on the critters from SPCA after they are adopted. I want to take them all home when I see them.

Cameron- Picking which one to take home is the trick, eh?  I like your vet and I don't even know him.  I tried volunteering but I get too attached.  I had a seller once that was a volunteer for the SPCA and her house was full!!!

Hi Mel!  This sounds like a lot of fun.  Very creative too!  I'm sure you will be a winner.  I was just at our local SPCA to drop off some old material for the cages.  I stopped to see the dogs and cats and it is heart breaking.  So many unwanted animals.

Mel, I have a funny story about scratchy records.  You know I am hearing impaired.  Did you also know that before CD's, every one of my Christmas albums started out with the sound of static from being scratched?  Well, my friend Ed, who makes me laugh all the time and I (Jack was there too) were at a Christmas party.  The hostess had one of those downhill skier Santas.  I didn't see someone turn it on, but what I did hear, was what I thought was the sounds of one of my Christmas albums... you know when you first put the needle down on the record.  So I said.. loudly, oh good...just what we needed, Christmas music.  Ed called me out of the room and told me what it was and I guess you had to be there, but we started laughing until we were crying and clutching our stomachs.  Now, every Christmas, Ed says Oh, just what we needed, Christmas music and we are off to the races, laughing again!

Mel-That is great. On our web page, we have an animal that is up for adoption from our local Animal Shelter. One of the owner's does our web page and she keeps up with when it sells and then adds another one.

Mel, I am a pet lover as well--and have to force myself to pass by that place without stopping in!  They are a wonderful society and this looks like a fun contest, thank you for posting it---and reminding people they can get a wonderful friend there instead of possibly buying from a puppy mill.
