I am Thankful that I live in America !

I wrote a post earlier today about  my Top Things for which to be Thankful!! ....

However, I forgot something very important that we all take for granted and often complain a little too much about.

I am Thankful for living in the United States!!

Why do I feel the need to say this now, today, after thanksgiving?? you may ask??

Well, I clicked onto the front page of Yahoo and read these headlines.

We are so lucky that we live in a country where we feel extremely safe due to our brave men and women of the military, police, fire fighters, and many others.... who protect us and offer their lives to keep us safe.

I am thankful for their brave service and living here in America

Amen!  You are so right.  I am very thankful to be living here.  We take it for granted and I'm sure people who have come from other parts of the world don't understand how we can do that.

Marchel - our ancestors got on the ship, fought for independence, fought in many wars, for our rights and freedoms we enjoy today

With a Wal-Mart employee trampled to death, two people shot to death at a Toys R Us, and, of course, the Katrina fiasco, I'm not sure that I feel "extremely safe," but I think I understand what you're saying. If we could get rid of borders and religion, we might have a chance. Hmmm. Reminds me of "Imagine," by John Lennon.

Larry B - it is horrible. It just seems to be the nature of people. Never appreciating what we have when we have it until we dont have it

Doreen McPherson - probably the greatest frustration of non-americans is their lack of understanding of how fortunate we have it here in the states

Jim Frimmer - I still feel pretty safe at most stores, maybe not on Black Friday. !!  but, any reference to the Beatles makes your comment the Comment of the Day
