Yes, we have deer everywhere, in the bird bath, the bird feeder, the water sprinkler, the front yard and the back yard.  We have about 30 Axis and 12 Whitetail that use our back yard for a place to bed down at night.  There so many deer and antelope in The Hill Country that many of them get killed just crossing the highways to either get to the river for water of to the ranchers hay fields to eat. The largest Whitetail buck that I have seen here was two blocks from the police station in downtown Kerrville walking right down the middle of the street.   Here are a few pictures of the deer that make a home in our backyard.

I could sped a lot of time photographing the wildlife but there are just so many hours in a day.

Howdy Don

You and Ricki, sure do have some fine looken Deer in your yard.

Up in these here parts, folk's have to bring their bird feeders in the fall, can put them back out in the Winter, and then bring them back in the Spring. But not because of Deer, but the Bears will come and eat the bird feed. When that happens you no longer have bird feeders.

God Bless Texas

Dale I am glad we do not have many bears in this area but we do have some black bear in the Hill Country.

Hi Don... Those are some gorgeous deer!  Makes me miss my house in Austin.  I used to have coffee with the deer every morning!

Hi Don...we have lots of deer too. As well as elk, buffalo, bears, and the very (thankfully) occasional mountain lion. Nothing like living in the country (Jackson Hole, WY)!

This fellow was strutting through the yard earlier this year...

Very neat photos Don, I bet you and Ricki keep those feeders full too.  :)  The deer are awesome to see, we have them in the neighborhood but we have horses on our land and the deer avoid our place, they jump thru and go to the next place.  I had no idea that horses and deer didn't get along until we moved here.

Steve, I bet you do miss Austin, it is such a great place to live. Yes we have deer for coffee each day as well.

Tim, I like you photo of you visitor in the yard.  We do have a lot of buffalo, some elk some moose and mountain lion as well.  I have seen one solid black big cat a number of times. We only live four miles from town.

Gail,  Yes we do feed and water the deer this time of the year as well as the birds.  There are so many different types of birds in The Hill Country. I never thought about the horse and deer thing.

Kelly, Yes we love The Hill Country of Texas, what a great place to call home or just to come for a visit.  Our area was named one of the top spots to retire by the wall street journal.
