Shuttle Landing 2008 Edwards Air Force Base Edwards, CA

I can only imagine that to some east coast folks, a shuttle landing is just a local occurance like a commuter flight at LAX from Sacramento. But today we were a part of history! The Endeavor landed in California! Short of rolling out the red carpet, Calfornia hosted the landing of STS-126.

Turns out Edwards Airforce Base is quite close to Santa Clarita Valley and Los Angeles County! The drive was wide open! People were tailgating and out with their best-of-breed cameras. I even saw a lens that came with its own tripod!
(real close up is from www.nasa.gov I took the other picture.)

Leah,

The space shuttle is soooo amazing.  I had the joy of living in Florida for years and my favorite was the night launches.  We could sit on our lanai and see them in the dark, night sky.  Truly an amazing experience.  I'm glad you got to witness it first hand!
