When I woke up this morning I really didn't want to get out of bed...I just hate getting out of bed to a cool house. Thankfully I could hear the hum of the furnace and knew my husband had kicked the heat up a few notches, and I could smell the coffee brewing. So get out of bed I did, into the warm shower and then into my closet to get long underwear, warm socks, pants, a shirt and sweatshirt to go over it. Next, out to the garage to start my car so that my son and I can enjoy a cozy ride to school. When I'm sure the car has warmed up we both put on our coats, hats, boots and gloves and head out for the day.
With my son safely at school I drive to my first showing appointment with my newest clients. We meet at the house and both park on the road because the drive hasn't been plowed of the six fresh inches of snow we received overnight. After I scrape the snow away from the storm door so that it will open and I get my frozen fingers to work the lockbox, we enter the cold house and begin to look around. We do this at two more houses and boots or no boots my feet are cold and my fingers are numb!
After this appointment is over I get 45 minutes in the office to catch up on some paperwork and head out to my next appointment. These clients need access to their soon to be new home to take some measurements. The house is located at the bottom of a hill and after sliding a bit past the driveway on the icy gravel road I once again park at the road and trudge to the house with clients in tow. This house is unheated as well and we spend an hour measuring, shivering and discussing remodeling ideas through the fog that our breath is creating as we speak!
At the end of this day though I am one happy agent and will gladly do it all over again tomorrow. I love Northern Michigan and all it has to offer in the winter time. Snowmobiling, sledding, ice skating, enjoying a hot cup of cocoa and experiencing a white Christmas! Northern Michigan, especially Gladwin County, is a great place to live, play and yes even WORK!
