Buying into a real estate franchise definitely has it's advantages. Franchise Advantages are numerous in that you don't have to reinvent the wheel. Your logo is already done for you, most of your marketing materials are already there, and most importantly your new company name is already out there.

These things can be a big headache as well as a big expense. That is why you should consider a low cost franchise like a Re-max franchise before opening "joe's real estate"

Then again... that's just my opinion.

How low is low cost?  How is it structured?  Remax certainly does have a strong brand and seems to support with some national ads. Just curious, not really in a position to take any action.

Why pay extra money out in a extremely hard market.  That is why we see more no name companies pop up during hard times.  Everybody wants to keep every dime.

Hi Scott~ I can see both sides of the coin since I have had my own non franchised company in TN for years.  I have moved to another state and now work for a Franchised company and see NO value for the franchise fee paid with each transaction.  So, I guess it depends on how you look at it and what you get for it!

Scott, I agree completely, I opened my company last March and bought a Real Living Franchise.  The support, technical tools, and online presence makes a big difference in a tough market and I believe that it's worth the start up cost and franchise fees.  I know it can be argued both ways, but I've been on both sides of the fence and I prefer a franchise.

I considered buying the We Buy Houses franchise for our local market but decided against it in the end.  While I do see your point I eventually want other people to buy my franchise not the other way around. But to each his own.

I guess it depends on your ultimate goals, how much you have to spend, and your market.  In our market there are many small companies doing fine.  But you will always have some customers that rather gravitate to the known names.
