On Monday the Clarksville City council voted to amend the capital project budget by $32,000,000 to build the new Clarksville Marina and a Water Park at Fairgrounds Park. The current fairgrounds park is set to be revamped in 2009.

This new marina does come with some cost. The Clarksville Jaycess had to agree to sell their Activies Center to the City of Clarksville. The city had already appoved authorization of eminent domain for the property owned by the Clarksville Jaycees if no agreement was made to sell. After two appraisals an agreement was made to sell the current property to the City of Clarksville. Now the question is where will the Clarksville Jaycess host their meetings and plan projects that support the city.The Jaycees have already had to cancel projects for the rest of the year.Also with fairgrounds park being closed next year for the construction of the new marina, where will the North Tennessee State Fair be held ?

Clarksville had a Strategic Plan study Conducted June 8-9, 2007. This report also mentions the Marina and other major areas of focus. The areas of focus include:

• Infrastructure planning and development

• Operations and communications

• Public safety

• Recreation and parks

• Standards and beautification
