3 Comments on Prospect feature now available in Metrolist PrimeAccess
Something I have noticed about how users access the MLS that is important:
PrimeAccess and MyMLS searches compared to dialup searches yield different results.
Why? The servers for eac access method do not pull identical data. The Dialup method, though cumbersome pulls more data than the other methods, due to limits on available data housed in servers.
I have tried various tests to check the tehory, because I do a lot of statistical reporting in various articles I author, for research I conduct on local markets with international groups, and for personal reasons (I have an inquiring mind).
PrimeAccess pulls the smallest sample available of the three methods. I don't know why all server data is not accessed, but it isn't.
MyMls is a step above, if your sample needs are large, but you are limited to 6000 downloaded (text file) records, per dataset inquiry. This is much more data than you can download at one time using PrimeaAccrss, but what is striking to me is that when I used Dialup as a test recently, the same sample criteria were used to get the information, and Dialup yielded a more accurate sample, providing the missing data that would have invalidated the entire article I wrote.
So, if you want the highest statistical accuracy, use dialup to get the data.
It would be a great thing if PrimeAccess allowed the user to pull all data from all servers down to a comma delimited file, so that we could author statistically accurate articles when we send things to clients. It would be better if we could get the actual field headers for all types of data for an entire report woth all fileds posted for tpyes land, income, rental, and also for the PDC records.
I would be happy to create such a template if I knew the exact order of the fields from the database, and return them to Metrolist so they can publish the information on the website.
Still, Metrolist is hands-down a better system than PPAR and IRES for reporting. The dataset provides more information and more accurately. the above observations just note the historic kinks in varying systems through the years as Metrolist has been evolving.
Now, to the reply to the new feature: This is a big plus and timesave. Here is a tip for you Outlook users. If you are prospecting similar things for several buyers, simply create a blind distribution list, and use that list name as the recipient when using this feature to same yourself time. Be sure to add your email to the list, so you can verify that the information is getting out, and you will also beable to discover any broken email addresses in the process. This will help you monitor and follow up on your drip emails.

Lou,
I found this very interesting. Do you know if they are still going to support dial up access after primeaccss in service?
Cheers
Brent
Hi Brent,
As of Sep 15, PrimeAccess will be the only MLS system we support. We're pleased to say that PrimeAccess has been choosen by many Realtors as their MLS system of choice and prefer using this newest technology.
