While shopping isn't exactly the first thing on people's mind during these tough economic times, when looking for a new home, it's nice to know with whom you could be neighbors. Encino is lucky enough to have the Westfield Topanga Plaza within close proximity - located just north of the 101 freeway on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Canoga Park.

Its history is rich. In 1964 it was billed as the first enclosed mall west of the Mississippi and local news outlets boasted the year-round spring-time shopping conditions. Although the ice arena no longer exists, numerous renovations have kept the space modern and relevant. An ownership change in 1993 meant more changes, and with a grand re-opening in 2006 the Westfield Topanga Plaza became an even more essential retail destination.

There truly is something for everyone - from Target to the brand new Neiman Marcus as part of the new luxury collection. Shoppers can explore the regulars like Banana Republic and BEBE, Nordstrom and Macy's, as well as Jimmy Choo and Tiffany and Co. Food options offer the same diversity, with everything from sit-down dining such as California Pizza Kitchen and Red Robin, to food terrace staples like Auntie Anne's Pretzels and Panda Express.

To learn more about with whom you could be neighbors here in lovely Encino, my name is Carol Wolfe and nobody does it better.
