For many people, both the general public and industry professionals, the Alphabet Soup of designations has gotten, well, cloudy over the years. Trying to determine which designation is the best has up until now been very difficult. Recently however the MRE designation has become nationwide and recognized as the standard for professionalism and expertise in real estate.

Why? What does an MRE mean to me?

The Master of Real Estate designee is already proven success. The real estate professional carrying this designation is just that, a Professional. They have made a career out of working hard for their customers, furthering their education and are successful practitioners.

The MRE requires no fewer than 150 hours of education for each candidate, along with proof of completion in advanced courses on Ethics.  The consumer can rest assured that the MRE has met not the minimum standars, but rather the maximum standards for ethics, negotiation and technology. The courses offered are topic driven and difficult, and the MRE candidates are working hard to reach their goals every day.

That includes working hard for their clients and customers as well! MRE's share common communication and marketing, address the complex real estate issues of the day, and work to keep each other and their clients or customers informed about market trends and issues. All of these components help to make each MRE better, and to assist them in creating the greatest possible value for the consumer, client or customer.

That is great! Additional education may be the most dramatic way a real estate broker can differentiate themselves from the competition.

I am an instructor and e-PRO certified trainer, so I understand the value of all of the education, but I must say that the referrals are one of the top three reasons one should continue to education themselves.

I've been lucky enough to make and receive referrals from ABR's and fellow GRI's, as well as to spend time with other designation profiles. The network that can develop from completing a program like the MRE is awesome.

I would hope that after next Monday (when the new designation site opens online at www.RealEstateMRE.com) that you at least take a look.

My friend told me about a real estate agent she new that used the WGAS Designation after their name in his email signature. He used the desination for years and many people may have been impressed but others not so much. One day she asked what the WGAS Designation represented. His response was it stands for Who Gives A Sh*t. She was laughing for weeks over that story. I still find it amusing to this day.
