Every year as a part of our life plan, new year's resolutions, goals, etc. we decide on which charities we will contribute to and this year, more than ever, many organizations that depend upon the support of the community to function are behind in contributions.
An organization that we have chosen for the past six years, is the Waukesha Womens Center. This center operates with the help of funding from generous people like you....for battered and abused women to seek refuge with their children from abusive spouses and get back on their feet again. This shelter is in immediate need of the following items:
- Deodorant
- Food - Our pantry is VERY low
- Large size diapers (4, 5 & up, including pull ups)
- Laundry Detergent
- Infant toys - basic(rattles, teethers, stacking cups & rings)
- Adult size pajamas
- Calling Cards
- Walgreen's gift cards
The center would appreciate your help with any of these items....you can go to the Dollar Store...and infant items...toys, pacifers....just think for $5 or $10 you can make a difference ! We also go to the Dollar Store and get make up....nail polish....manicure kits...combs, brushes...hair accessories besides the things that are necessities. There can be no other time in a woman or child's life when she needs a little bit of pampering assistance than when she has left her home sometimes with little more than the clothes on her back....rebuilding self esteem is just part of what the center does for these families.
