This weekend, on Saturday December 6th at 6 PM will mark a return to one of Westwood's magical traditions, the  "Home For the Holidays Parade".

This event is the area's version of the Macy's Day Parade and typically starts off the 2008' Holiday Season in the Pascack Valley area.  It has spanned more than 25 years now and is a highlight to the Season for residents here in Bergen County.

The Parade kicks off at the Five Corners {Westwood Avenue and Kinderkamack Road} and continues down Westwood Ave. to Veterans Memorial Park and will culminate with the festive tree lighting ceremony hosted by Santa himself and his friends.

Every year the parade offers a different theme.
This year's theme is "Holiday Magic".  There will be magic inspired floats based on children's wonders such as Harry Potter, Mickey Mouse as the Sorcerers Apprentice and more. Several magicians, stilt walkers and witches, both good and bad will be walking and provide entertainment during the parade. The town will also hand out 3000 glow stick necklaces for keepsakes.  Many local merchants will provide some free goodies including an assortment of popcorn, hot cider, hot chocolate and soup.

There will also be an amusement style hayride around Veterans Park and music with live performances as well as an on site DJ.

This parade has taken on a much grander proportion and spectacle since it's original inception when it was mainly Santa Claus riding down Westwood Avenue on a firetruck.  The Westwood Chamber of Commerce and other grass roots efforts have made this an exciting event for Westwood and the surrounding Pascack Valley Towns. Crowds can be expected to be anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 this year as previous years have shown.

Bring the whole family and arrive early for a good spot. It promises to be a truly special  time for all!
