Why Try?

By
Managing Real Estate Broker with Windermere Peninsula Properties

Are you trying to make ends meet. At the last moment do you get that payment in on time? Do you feel left out, because as much as you struggle those that are not making it any more have all of the options available to them.

I am right there. Real Estate was a lot lighter this year. I am into the savings, and making ends meet is a lot harder. Every month I get it done, but for how long. I called the credit card co. and asked if I could make arrangements to reduce the payment amount short term, and they would not help me, because I was not late. They actually suggested that I don't make my payment... then call. I was hoping to be on the up and up and do a preemptive strike. What is wrong with this country, when everyone wants a hand out and no one wants to honestly try, and those that do are the ones who are on the outside looking in.

What message are we sending to the youth in the United States of America?

I applaud you for trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately those of us who do the right thing are the ones being hurt most! Working in Credit Repair I see the people who pay nothing get the most help. It is so unfair. Oh well, I am making a living. That said, when things are tough I try other things. In addition to this job I sell Mary Kay. I can't complain if I don't try to help myself. I also find those who complain the most are those who do nothing to help themselves!!

Happy Friday!!

Dinah,

It seems you have to be $100,000 behind in your taxes (the way the TV commercials tell it), $30,000 in debt on your credit crads and behind in your payments, or pre-foreclosure to get any relief. :)

I can't believe this you have to be late and damage your credit before you get any help this seems so unfair.  I hope things get better for you and all of us in the business.  Try to stay positive and keep your head up; hopefully next year will be better.

Thank You for the comment, Lori. I hope when all of this is over those that made it get super bonus points on their credit report. Lets give them all a year without taxes.LOL -Dinah Lee

Dinah, I am afraid as the youth of our country watch the news and see huge companies ask for bail-out money then have a convention in a lavish hotel with the money..there is no good old fashion value in saving what you earn or working hard to earn more. Because when you run out of money ask someone with money for some-more seams to be the message.

It's crazy that you have to ruin your credit to be eligible for any sort of renegotiation.  I fear it will get much worse.  Great post.  Keep your head up as those of us who keep the faith and bust our buts will prevail...

I know exactly how you feel.  All of the better programs for refinancing are for those who are behind on their payments or almost in foreclosure.  Not fair to those of us who'd like to refi but faithfully pay the mortgage every month.

Ridiculous you would have to go this route and that they actually suggested it. Talk about not being able to head things off at the pass. There doesn't seem to be relief for the happy middle American realtors working their butts off.... you either have to be desperate or have too much money to get any acknowledgement or help.  where's OUR bailout?  Hang in there Dinah Lee - at least you know you tried. Make sure your document your call as well.

Dinah, I also feel that the those who try to do the right thing are the ones who are penalized. I agree with the comments made and I too wish to shout WHERE'S OUR BAILOUT?

Dinah, why don't all of us hard-working Americans just ask for a bailout too?  It's like high-priced "welfare" for those who should know better...
