Lubbock officially turns 100 on March 16,2009!  Today Lubbock is a thriving city of more than 214,000 people.  Lubbock serves as the hub of the region's economy, education and health care.  It is the distribution and wholesale center of West Texas.  Since it houses major firms in every field of commerce, it earned the nickname the Hub City.

Lubbock is the states tenth-largest city and hometown of rock 'n'roll legend Buddy Holly and singer/actor Mac Davis. West Texas sunsets are the most brilliant ones ever seen by mankind.  The sun shines an average of 263 days a year.  With a semi-arid climate, our nights are cool, days are warm and low humidity.  July's average temperature is a pleasant 80 degrees.  January's average is a mild 39.  The city's median income is roughly $36,000.  Lubbock's predominant religion is Christianity.  The median home price is a modest $107,000.  Compare that to the average Texas median of $$143,798 and National median of $$$215,000!

Moving to Lubbock?  Lubbock has more doctors per capita than Dallas, Phoenix, Denver, or Albuquerque.

Overton Park is the largest private redevelopment project in the nation.

Lubbock has been ranked multiple times by Forbes Magazine as one of the best small cities to do business in Texas.

If you are considering moving to Lubbock, be assured there are plenty of stores and restaurants.  In fact, people comment regularly how they cannot believe just how many restaurants this city has!  The retail stores are popping up everywhere.  The freeways and roads are excellent and traffic stays at a bare minimum.
