Rates may get to 4.5%!!

The Federal Reserve is continuing to look for ways to get the housing market back on it's feet & with the target rate already very low, Fed officials are mulling new ways to get the economy going.

One discussion is to reduce mortgage rates. Because they have a stake in Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac they would potentially be able to control home mortgage interest rates.

Talks along these lines indicate that rates could get in the low-mid 4's!!

I'll keep everyone posted as to the progress of the Fed's moves.

Please do. They have to do something. If things keep going like this there will be one less super power in the world.

One comfort is that the Fed has been very proactive at stimulating the economy, much more so than their European counterparts.

I still think we need more help with down payment as along as they have the scores and jobs.

I just read a blog by an agent in Baton Rouge who reported her lender is offering 4.875% rates...Incredible!!

I agree Chad, I'd love to see rates there - I think it would get a lot of buyers off the fence & really stimulate things in the housing market!
