O'Fallon Missouri is named one of America's safest cities

The city of O'Fallon was named the 3rd safest city in America according to CQ Press's annual report, entitled City Crime Rankings 2008 - 2009.  This is the first year that O'Fallon has been eligible to be included in these rankings due to our population in previous years.

The crime rate rankings of cities and metropolitan areas, with populations 75,000 or more, are calculated using six categories: murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assult, burglary and motor vehicle theft.

Congratulations to our fair city and keep up the good work.

Good Morning Ms. Leesa,

It is a great list to be included on and being the first year that we were eligible makes it all that much nicer.

JL,

Hi Don!  Now, that's a list that every city would like to be on too!  We just read the information that Matthews (a Charlotte suburb) is on the list but, I have not seen the entire list to know where we stand.

Have a great weekend!

Excellent... crime is certainly a concern for folks looking to relocate.  That's a pretty darn good ranking.

Interesting, strangely I feel safer living in New York City than I have in the suburbs where I grew up in Seattle, WA.  Obviously, the suburbs were quiet as can be, but with the doorman building I live in, the sheer number of people always around in the city no matter if its 3pm or 3am there is always somebody around.

Morgan,

I am not to sure that I could say the same thing.  I like NYC but I am not sure that I feel safer there than here.

Don, Now that is something to brag about!!  Neighborhood watches in this area are popular to try to keep crime rates down.  It really works and the police can't do it all by themselves!
