  Christmas season in New Bern has so much to offer and here are some of the this years activity as I hope to see you there.

Here in New Bern we try to keep Christmas traditional and you will be able to see and experience lots of traditional decoration as well as to get in to Historic New Bern sprite as we are celebrating up coming holidays. Don't forget to bring your children as they can experience some unforgettable time with Santa and so much more.

11/7-12/24 International Annual Juried Sculpture Exhibit - Take a look at more than 30 works of sculpture on display at the Bank of the Arts and another 10 at the adjacent Sculpture Park. Admission is free. For more information please contact the Bank of the Arts at (252) 638-2577

11/28, 11/29, 11/30, 12/5, 12/6, 12/7, 12/12, 12/13, 12/14, 12/19, 12/20, 12/21, 12/22, 12/23, 12/24 Santa House - Get into the Christmas spirit while visiting Santa at Santa's House located at Bear Plaza on Middle Street in downtown New Bern. Give Santa your Christmas list and have your photo taken with him. The Santa House will be open on Friday, November 28, 2008 from 10am-5pm (kick off the season), Friday, December 5, 12 & 19, 2008 from 4pm-8pm, Saturday, November 29 and December 13 & 20, 2008 from 10am-5pm, Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 10am-2pm, Sunday, November 30 and December 7, 14 & 21, 2008 from 12pm-4pm Monday, December 22 and Tuesday, December 23 from 12pm-4pm and Christmas Eve from 10am-2pm. 11/28-12/24 A Dickens of a Christmas in Downtown New Bern - Enjoy a Celebration throughout the Christmas Season with Downtown Illumination on Friday evenings - luminaries throughout the business district 5-8, Theme Fridays in the shops, Illumination Trolley Tours on Friday evenings, Read the story of a Christmas Carol on hand painted 8' cards throughout the business district & Santa in his house in Bear Plaza. Also bring an unwrapped gift for a child during Tiny Tim's Toys for Tots at the Santa House during Santa hours & Tins for Tiny Tim food drive for RCS during Santa hours. 12/1-12/31 Centuries of Celebrations at Tryon Palace- Daily tours and festivities are accented by holiday decorations in the Palace and historic homes. 12/6 Breakfast & Lunch with Santa - Enjoy this community holiday fund-raising event for the Craven Regional Medical Center Foundation. Breakfast with Santa will include breakfast with Santa with a breakfast buffet, crafts and pictures with Santa at 9:00am and 10:00am. Lunch with Santa will include lunch, crafts and pictures with Santa at 11:30am and 12:30pm. Children tickets are $10 and adults are $10. Mrs. Claus will be available for story time. 12/6 New Bern Christmas Parade - Get into the holiday spirit with the annual New Bern Christmas Parade set to begin at 3:30pm. For more information please contact the Craven County Jaycees at (252) 636-0303.

12/6 Coastal Christmas Flotilla - New Bern Parks and Recreation is proud to host the annual Coastal Christmas Flotilla! Join us for a magical evening of bright lights, beautiful boats and music. For more information please contact New Bern Recreation and Parks at (252) 639-2902. 

12/6 North Carolina Symphony Holiday POPS - Enjoy this event geared toward families, so bring the kids! The concert will begin at 7pm with the Orchestra performing favorite Christmas selections with fun times including sing alongs. 12/6 Jarman Opry Theater - Enjoy a classic country, gospel, blue grass Christmas show at the Masonic Theatre in Historic Downtown New Bern. Show is from 7:00pm until 9:00pm. 12/7 Inns of New Bern Bed & Breakfasts Open House - Come and salute the season and enjoy the decorated historic Inns of downtown New Bern free of charge. 12/13 Holly & Ivy House Tour - Enjoy a delightful afternoon visiting six homes "specially decorated" for the holiday season and located in New Bern's Historic District. Be sure to stop at the designated "Sugar Plum" house for a treat of homemade holiday cookies and cider. Tickets in advance are $12 or 10 for $100. Day of tour tickets are $15. 12/13 Tryon Palace Christmas Candlelight Tours - Step back in time for an unforgettable evening in colonial New Bern in 1770. Governor and Mrs. Tryon are hosting a ‘Grand Entertainment & Ball' to celebrate the completion of the Palace and the birthday of King George III. The palace is illuminated and filled with elegant dancers and fascinating characters. New Bern's colonial townspeople have also turned out to enjoy the festivities. The grand finale of the evening is a spectacular fireworks show on the South Lawn. Come celebrate the holidays with us...colonial style! 12/20 Santa Paws on Parade - A fun and exciting parade of costumed pets parade through Downtown New Bern. The pets and their owners will gather in the back of Bear Plaza and parade down Middle Street to South Front Street, Craven Street, Pollock Street and back to Bear Plaza.
