She was wearing MY dress at the Christmas Party. So I REALLY let her have it!

Christmas treeWell what was I to do? What would you have done??

So I headed right over to give her a piece of my mind!  We faced off.smoking gunEyed each other up and down and I spoke first – “hey, you have really great taste!  She smirked in response and said, “ Well so do you! “

Well, what else could we do then but hug and waltz off arm in arm to the buffet table, load our plates.

twinsWe grabbed a glass of wine and then sat side by side in the place of honor on the fireplace hearth.

We sipped our wine, exchanged life stories and munched our food. No one could miss us, sitting side by side.  Of course we were the Belles of the Ball.  Everyone came over to say “hi” and compliment us on our outfits.  We both had a great time!

Sooo, what Would you have done??

Several years ago, I went to a wedding with my wife.  She was dressed in most beautiful lavender flower printed dress.  She and the other two ladies who wore the same dress were also quite beauiful.  They did much the same as you. . . had fun with it.

You did the right thing! I think I dress so different...that if someone came dressed in the same thing..I would need to check her birth certificate to make sure we were not separated at birth!

Eileen, yep, you handled it perfectly.  What else could you do???   I remember in junior high, one of my friends and I had the same dress.  We tried not to wear them on the same day but it would happen (especially because neither had many dresses).  So, we'd smile and walk arm in arm around the playground enjoying the attention.

Eileen,  Sounds like you handled it percfectly.  Sounds like you might have had more fun because of it.  Agian, one of the reasons I like to shop locally, in small towns the store owners pay attention to who buys what and makes sure no two people go to the same event in the same dress.

Hi;  Steve & Debbie;  sounds like you "win" going to a function and being on of a triplet!

Sherry, that's too funny - needing to check her birth certificate if she was wearing the same thing!  I'd better go find some of your posts so I can laugh some more. :)

Thanks for stopping by Brande. I had fun writing this one.

Hi Judi; I'd say it was much harder in Junior High. Don't think I would have had the poise at that age to be so casual! :)

Hi Kathy;  Your right, the smaller the town and store the less likely this is to happen and the shop owner is likely to know if two people are going to the same function!

Thanks everyone for stopping by and making it alot more fun!

Eileen,  You really had no other choice since you would have offended your host.  I'm sure your "new best friend" felt the same way,  Karen

It sounds like you handled it the only way you could.  I hope you had a great time at the party.

Hi Karen;  I do know women who would have sulked or avoided each other. Even a couple who might have gone home to change...

Charles;  Funny!!  Hey, how about Halloween? :)

Cecily;  Yes, did make a new friend as well as got to talk to lots of people.

Jon; I have a warped sense of humor so truly thought it was funny and did have a great time too!

Many, many years ago at my cousin's wedding, I had the same dress as the bridesmaids(there were a lot of them) only  mne was in a different color. There was a lot of "good" taste there. It was actually kind of fun.

Your response was perfect and a great way to meet new people. Did you photograph each other?

I had something similar happen just recently. I like wearing mens plaid shirts with lacey tees under them. We had a family dinner out several weeks ago and boy did we all have a laugh. My husband and I ended up wearing matching shirts that night, then my son and my brother showed up wearing the same thing. We all had a good laugh, especially when they asked us at the resturant if we were some kind of club.

Its good to have fun with situations like these instead of getting upset and throwing a fit. Now when we all decide to go out we call each other up to see what color we should all wear, and its fun!
