My husband claims that he overheard someone say this in the grocery store one day.  He might have made it up, but it does show how short our summers can be.  Nevertheless, it is a glorious time of year!  I put plants on my deck from Memorial Day to Labor day, but keep sheets handy to cover them up in case we have frost.  Those plants make the most glorious display.  I guess they know the season is short and they all bloom at once.  The perennials in my garden do well if I am careful in choosing which ones I buy.

I was excited the other day to spot some crocus blooming.  I know, you are way ahead of us, but after about 6 months of winter, we are ready for a little spring, although we hate to see the ski areas close for the season.

It also happens to be real estate season.  We have a saying in Summit County; "we came for the winter and stayed for the summer", and that is the way it happens.  People enjoy it so much here in the winter that they come back in the summer, and many never leave.  Or they find a way to come back permanently.  I do laugh when my clients and I are looking at a home and they ask me if it is air conditioned.  I just open a window!  The Floridians have a thing about ceiling fans though, and can't seem to do without them.

Thanks for that laugh Joanne! We had a Green Christmas and a White Easter in Michigan this year and I was wondering if spring would ever get here! I enjoyed a beautiful weekend and accomplished good things in the yard.

Isn't it nice to see signs of spring and new growth!

that is too funny - not many homes here with AC most of us use the window trick too and sleep with a comforter all year long... in August it is not unusual to have a day of 100 degrees and a night of 25 degrees....

The crocus I spotted the other day are now covered in snow!  Welcome to Colorado!  I-70 was closed again today because the truckers just can't believe that they might need chains...why, it is almost summer!  Not here.....

There are spots in my yard where we still have two feet of snow!!!  I live at nearly 10,000 feet between Keystone and Montezuma (off the Peru Creek trailhead) and we have tons of trees so the sun can't melt it fast enough.  Sure hope that snow is gone for our "one day of Summer"!
