Let's go on STRIKE! Are you in?

By

Just imagine all of us would go on STRIKE and NOT pay NAR next time around. Do you think it would wake them UP?   With over 120,000 members on AR could we start something like a
grassroots movement?  Or all blog on  http://change.gov

Please read the short post below and tell me if I am sooooooooooo wrong

Are Realtors "Second class people"?

Think about it, I do not think that NAR is not doing much if anything to help his Realtors. We the Realtors, Mortgage brokers, Appraisers, etc. with all our face book, Twitter, My Space account, can we get organized and help ourselves and therefore the housing industry?

Ok, maybe I am daydreaming. You tell me.

Please reblog

Thanks Anne

Dean, I do not want a bail out, I want some common sense. If the Downturn in the economy started with the "housing bubble" wouldn't if be a great idea to solve the problem where it started? But, so far nobody is listening.

As we operated a national association for 13 years, this is a familiar cry from members. "What do we get for our dues?!?"

Every time we turn around it seems like someone has their hand out. Our lockboxs were just changed from Supra to Sentilock. I won't even go into that cluster *.

The associations don't do a good job of explaining their worth. I agree that sometimes it seems like it's flushing money down the john. We get hammered twice because there is no kind of team discount. So dues times are always doublely painful.

No doubt.  NAR has been doing a sorry job for years. Realtor.com is a rotten site compared to Zillow or Trulia.  The voice NAR gives us in Washington doesn't even make the news compared to what the Wall Street crybaby's do.  NAR has done little if anything to help its members with healthcare issues.  It is time to do something.

This is a compounded issue Anne. NAR is only one factor. I assume that you have a state association as well as a regional? Then perhaps an MLS organization? When it is all said and done it takes Jeannie and I an average of two transactions to break even from our dues fees. So we definitely feel the pain. Every time we turn around it seems we bump into someone else with their hand out.

So what do they do for us? Our regional association seems to offer the most, though much of it seems to be trickle down. They fight the call on the Hill to tax our commissions, offer a credit union, lobby for new and existing home owner perks and benefits, etc. You kind of have to read through all of the newsletters to figure out what we get for our money. Health benefits that really amount to something would be a huge plus.

Hi Anne,

Timely subject. I couldn't agree more. We work hard to make a buck and watch the rewards of those efforts go out to so many that, at least on the surface, aren't doing much for the charges they impose on us.
