We just got back from our wedding at Dreams Tulum on the Riviera Maya in Mexico. It was a blast! We had about 40 people come from all over the US. Dee Bice with Bice Travel organized it for us and was great. If you are thinking about travling down there I would highly recommend using her. She can be reached at 903-218-1669. She works out of Texas.
The Dreams Tulum hotel was perfect for our group. The hotel is fairly small so we always seemed to be around everyone. There is one large, "main" pool where we were at every day. Each day they had water aerobics, pool volleyball, and much more that was a blast. The entertainment staff was amazing and full of energy! There was a bar right there in the pool that catered to both adults and children. Our two youngs kids had a blast hopping up to the bar and ordering shirley temples and mickey mouse drinks all day. There is a nice beach just off of the pool that did not seem to get hit by the storms much.
The food was excellent for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The World Cafe had a breakfast buffet that was great every morning. We tried out all the dinner restaurants and they were excellent. They had two different restaurants by the pool for lunch and both of them were good.
Now for the main part, the wedding. We got the Ultimate wedding package, which includes almost all the wedding services they have to offer. They had several beach locations along with a chapel for the wedding location. We chose the wedding chapel. Although the chapel was right by all the action of the resort, once you entered it, it was very peaceful. The lighting within the chapel was very romantic.
After the wedding, they had a photographer to take some pictures of us throughout the resort. I was not sure how good he would be, but he was excellent. We even ended up buying all 250 pictures he took of the wedding and after. While we were off getting pictures taken, there was a cocktail party with food that I heard was really good.
We chose to have a private reception facing the beach by the pool. They had music playing of our choice along with an excellent four course dinner. We stayed there for about four hours dancing and having a good time before we retired for the evening.
The wedding planner was very easy to work with and was there at all times when we needed her.
The only downfall of the Dreams Tulum resort was that we had a couple of maintenance issues with our room that we did not feel were resolved within a reasonable amount of time. I think they were just trying to get some areas back up and running due to being closed the prior month due to some legal issues.
I would highly recommend calling Dee Bice to help you with your stay there. She can give you some good pointers since she is familiar with the area. She also got us some good party favors for the reception along with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries on our wedding night.
