AND NOW, THE GOOD NEWS

Consumer Reports recently published a survey, and the results indicate that there is, in fact, some good news in the real estate industry!  While foreclosures and other economic factors still exert some negative impact, those buyers and sellers who have worked with real estate professionals expressed a high degree of satisfaction, both with their representatives and with their bottom line.

Nearly 10,000 consumers were surveyed, and nearly three-quarters of those buyers and sellers reported that they were very or completely satisfied with their agent.  More good news: 86 percent of sellers who listed with a professional made the sale!  (Many of the remaining percentage still had their homes on the market at the time of the survey.)

Other results showed what all agents already know, because over four-fifths of consumers who listed through a broker netted an average of only $5,000 less than their asking price.  On the flip side, two-thirds of buyers who used a representative paid about $5,000 less than their purchase's original listing price. (The remaining third, who negotiated on their own, ended up paying very close to the asking price.)

Larry & Laurie--Hopefully, Michigan homes will follow the trend; some areas have seen positive increases. We need to get out of the mind set that all who ask--'receive'.

We have been a team since 2004 when I joined with Sal; prior to & after that austounding event (I say this because it was Sal's idea ????), we saw many buyers who used two paychecks, 100% -105% financing, 80-20 deals , & getting second mortgages within 3 months of purchase.

Sad as it is, maybe now here and around the country the Home ownership status will return to those who actually work for, save for & maintain good credit.  In the meantime, since we have left the New Construction fiels & moved in August to Resale, we can direct clients to making good decisions both in selling / buying Homes.  There is one Builder with whom we would work should he rejoin that field, keeping our affiliation with our Broker at Keller Williams as she does both New Construction & resale.


Soon, very soon I believe that this will turn around for most, if not all areas in our great Country.

p.s. have you noticed that when using 'spell check' & some words chosen are correct but must suffer from spacing problems thus when corrected they end up with double first or last letters.  or is it a problem only with my new keyboard???
