Too Much Pink - How Paint Can Prevent a Sale

By
Real Estate Agent with DWELL Real Estate

It was down to two houses to this buyer. I am pretty sure the other home was in the same subdivision of Turtle Rock in Sarasota, Florida. The buyer chose the other house and their Realtor gave me feedback, "there is just way too much pink in the home." I agree with him. See the photos below and decide for yourself.

I work with a lot of buyers so I understand the buyer mindset but it still amazes me how some people can not visualize past paint colors. I always stress to look at the bones of the homes because everything else can be changed. With all else equal of course something complete is better than buying a project but painting is relatively easy.

By the way, the home should be painted this week.

What do you think? Too much pink?

Hey, Marc. The home looks a little washed out with the pink paint. I little dash of color will do well. Thanks, Jim

That is at least tastefully pink, I was viewing a Mary Kay top sellers home, it had pink tile, pink granite, pepto bismol pink. Yuck.

Before we purchased our last home we looked at a home that was all Pink. It was a home that we saw everyday driving to work and when it came up for sale we looked at it.   Yes Too much pink turned us off.  I know that we could have painted the outside and inside but we did not want have all that work going on after we moved in.  We passed on that house.  Major reason was too much pink.

Pink was popular in the mid 1990's when this home was built.

Yep, it is pretty pink but if I am purchasing it I am more concerned about the layout and as long as the paint is a neutral color I would change to my liking immediately after closing.
