Should I Change the Photo On My Home Page?

Here is the photo on my home page. You can see it in action here - Sarasota real estate. I have toyed with the idea of changing this photo to an aerial view of Sarasota, Florida or one of its barrier islands. Similar to this one but not this one:

aerial view of Siesta Key

I would not use the one above but maybe something similar. I tend to like the lifestyle photos.

Sarasota, Florida is a beach town on the southwest coast of Florida. Many visitors to my website are second home buyers so that is who I am appealing to.

I would be interested to hear opinions of home page photos for a website geared towards the second home buyer.

Any opinions?

I like the picture of you....why not incorporate some lifestyle photos of you?

Marc - This is an interesting topic.  I do think that without a personal photo, the web is too impersonal.  But I will be interested to read the other comments and what you ultimately decide to do.

Hi Marc:

I like the idea that Cecily made...

But, out of the two, I would prefer to see the aerial photo...  The other is too personal.

Good luck,

Wos - you've gotten some diverse opinions on this.  I somewhat agree with all three.  You are selling lifesstyle.  Is the current pic of your dog and wife?  You need to get yourself in the photo.  You then combine the personal with the lifestyle.  (in my never to be humble opinion).

Hey, Marc. I like the photo with the dog, but I feel that it looks a little cold. I don't get that warm Florida feeling from it. I also agree with placing a personal photo on the front page. Thanks, Jim

Interesting comments. I appreciate them. I will probably stick my photo on the home page now. ;-)

Caring expertise...knowledge for you!

I love the dog/beach photo -- captures the essence of why one would move to your area (about lifestyle).    The other, though beautiful, maybe would market to tourism???
