Getting Indexed properly in Google

No matter what type of information your website presents, it is important to get your website properly indexed by Google. While there are many other search engines on the web, Google holds the lead for searches at 71.86% as of October 2008 (Source: Hitwise).

To get properly indexed, you have to take into consideration two main methods used by Google to index the internet; crawling and indexing.

The Googlebot is a robot used by Google to crawl the internet and find new and updated pages to index. There are two crawler versions used by Google; the Freshbot and the Deepbot. The Freshbot only looks for fresh content, while the Deepbot uses links within your site to index more pages and content.

When the Freshbot or Deepbot finds a new page or updated content on a page, it will then pass that information to the indexer which sorts through the content for indexing by Google. The Google indexer then analyzes the pages, sifts through the content and uses relevant keywords within the page content to index the page in Google's massive database.

Gee! Sounds so simple the way you describe it.

Great post. Thanks for the info. All we have to do now is to post new info constantly.

I really dont understand the indexing thing. Everyone acts as if its so hard to do and really its pretty much impossible not to get indexed. The only people who really would have to worry would be someone with millions of pages of content and I would hope they have someone who would help them. Sometimes you can do things to get indexed faster but really how much difference would that make? I constantly see writings about this and have never seen any concrete reason why Google wouldn't index your site or index new content. If you dont update your content often it might take longer to index because of the rate at which the bots visit your site. But if you dont add a lot of content what difference would it make when it gets indexed?

The subject of the blog was having it properly indexed. If you have a real estate page for your area you would want to use Eau Claire Wisconsin Real Estate information (in your case) with relevant content about real estate and links to other information on your and other related sites. If you also wanted to talk about demographic information, create another page and link to it with anchor text. Don't put it all on one page. You are telling Google this page is about XXX and confusing it with information about AAA, BBB & CCC.

Yes, you are right.. anybody can and does get indexed. The question is are they getting indexed properly? I have seen sooooo many real estate web pages that try to clutter everything up on the index page and then they wonder why they are showing up on page 122 of Google search results for real estate in their area. If you want your web page to show up for real estate... then talk about real estate and link to the other information with anchor text.

last thing (without me rambling on too much).. Google indexes web pages not sites, so create one page for each topic and each page has a chance to rank highly for its topic. Use your index page as a 'directional sign' to Google with anchor text leading to all the information on the rest of your site. Google just wants to know what your site is about and what the links point to. Make Google's job easier and it will index you the way YOU WANT to be indexed.

I hope you are still out there Shane because here's a tip that should change your world. Cheryl is telling to "GET PROPERLY INDEXED ON GOOGLE" and use anchor text correctly to do so.

Here's exactly what YOU need to do.

In your AR profile change the link that says ""search Eau Claire real estate" to "Eau Real Estate", you don't want the word "search" to be anchor text in this case.

Why?....because according to Google Keyword Tools. In November "Eau Real Estate" got googled almost 10,000 times! "search Eau Real Estate" got googled NO times. "Eau Claire homes for sale" got searched 8,100 times last month. Get the picture?

You have almost 90,000 points on AR, if you make some adjustments in the anchor text in your profile and all your blogs (really, everywhere you are on the net). I'm sure it would be to your benefit.

Im not sure what you guys are talking about here. I was simply referring to how Google indexes. I understand Google indexes each page and I think my point is still valid that basically no matter what you do, on a small site under several thousand pages, Google will index each page. Its basically just a matter of time, whether its within minutes, hours or weeks, but if its a small site with not much new, regular content what difference would it make when it gets indexed?

I also know that Eau Claire Real Estate receives the most searches and is also the most highly saturated set of key words. If you look as you pointed out "search eau claire wisconsin real estate" is much less saturated and my search page of my site usually ranks pretty well for that phrase which is why I am putting anchor text from here to that page. I am also anchoring a few other phrases to my home page. Each page of my site has specific key words that I am trying to rank for.

In order to help you understand to what we are referring, I am going to break down your questions:

Correct. No one has said anything to the contrary. The article is talking about getting properly indexed for your keywords and content.

Again, the article was about 'proper' indexing. In other words, dont use 'click here', 'see this' or 'more info' when linking. Use keyword anchor text and good content. (in addition to a myriad of other things such as proper page titles, keywords, descriptions etc)

As for the remainder, the dealer above was simply pointing out that you are using words in your anchor text that if removed could be to your benefit. When you say ‘saturated’ I assume you mean competitive and you are correct that ‘search eau claire wisconsin real estate’ is not competitive. Neither is ‘click here for eau Claire real estate’. That’s because people that are searching aren’t using that phrase.

Check out the google keyword tool and verify this for yourself if you like.
