Illinois Governor Rob Blagojevich was arrested this morning at his home for allegedly trying to sell the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama.

According to Chicago's WLS the affidavit includes the following...
During the call, Rob Blagojevich stated, "unless I get something real good for [Senate Candidate 1], s--t, I'll just send myself, you know what I'm saying."

Rob Blagojevich later stated, "I'm going to keep this Senate option for me a real possibility, you know, and therefore I can drive a hard bargain. You hear what I'm saying. And if I don't get what I want and I'm not satisfied with it, then I'll just take the Senate seat myself." Later, ROD BLAGOJEVICH stated that the Senate seat "is a f-ing valuable thing, you just don't give it away for nothing."  (For the sake of humor... I also find the use of a double negative in Blagojevich's last sentence to be troubling.)

Corruption is this decade's trend for both Republican and Democratic Illinois Governors. Blagojevich was preceded by George Ryan, who is currently serving a six and a half year sentence for corruption.

What are your thoughts?

Best regards,
Jay

Jay, it's politics as usual, and it comes from the "What's in it for me?" attitude. Until we can shake off our focus upon self, we will never be able to solve our ever-burgeoning problems.

I did a post on this as well.  This just disgusts me.  Illinois is overrun with political corruption.  I guess you see it in other states as well.

Another unbelievable but true story.

What is it with the political machine in Chicago.

This guy thought he was bulletproof - this would be funny, if it was not so sad.

Though I now live in Orlando, I was born and raised in Chicago.

I will always wonder what makes a person act so blatantly and so corruptly while holding a position of trust.

Even more crazy is what made Blagojevich think he could actually get away with crap like this when his predecessor, former Gov. Ryan, may very well croak in jail.

There is no end to the stupidity of man, and especially politicians.

There is no end  for the stupidity of democrats.  Sorry Jay, I just still don't understand why people are flocking to follow these radical leaders.  I do believe there are corrupt Republicans.  I'm not that naive.  Why do we continue to see people praising these politicians that have such radical criminal associations and many that are criminals themselves?  What has happened to our country?

Jeff and Lisa - This is not a party issue, but a personal one about a corrupt, egotistical man.

If you want to start a conversation about the stupidity of a political party, you should take a close look at the Republican Party and begin George W. Bush.

I seriously don't believe you want to start a debate about the stupidity of the numerous corrupt Republicans. (PS: Did you hear the update about Senator Larry Craig today?)

Bush is by no means perfect, but he has stood up and defended our country when it was not popular.

Man what a set of cajones on that guy! Either that or he's just incredibly stupid. He's been under investigation for over 3 years, he knows his office is wiretapped and his every move is under observation yet he is out there wheeling and dealing to sell this seat to the highest bidder - and land his wife a seat on some board or another raking in 150k a year while he's at it. Chicago politics at its 'in your face' best.

LOL @ Stewart.  Come on Stewart.....NO ONE is as stupid as Bush......with the single exception of the current Governor of Alaska, but she's just a freak of nature.

Jeff and Lisa....please tell me that you are kidding, do we need to have a prison roll call of Republicans?  Politicians are corrupt on both sides of the aisle.  Oh....and by the way....the book isn't finished being written about George W. Bush's life yet.  Plenty of time to be tried for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

7:05pm • #17

Stewart and Mike - I hope I'll never treat the next president with such contempt as you are treating the current one and the respected governor of Alaska who did nothing wrong, but was attacked for no reason.

Wow! I just can't even believe the way you guys think. I know there are criminals on both sides of the aisle.  I guess I'm just so sick of the far left leaning liberal media and how the liberals get away with murder and how the republicans are trashed for the silliest things....i.e. Gov. Palin, George Bush, etc.

Nothing in the media is accurately reported anymore...it is sooooo liberal.

BTW...maybe you guys in California and Las Vegas should try some of the conservative models practiced here in Texas.  Your housing markets are out of control, so much volatility, morals are completely corrupt, gambling, drugs and prostitution runs rampant, states are deep in debt, and the list goes on and on.  Where is your hope?  Is it really all in Obama???  Really???  What kind of CHANGE are you looking for?

I'm sorry, maybe I should stop blogging on here.  It is starting to remind me of MSNBC and The New York Times. I just figured realtors would believe more strongly in free enterprise, capitalism, family values and people in authority being honest and reputable.

Sorry you think my linking Obama to this criminal governor is insane, but look at Obama's history and how he continues to downplay these radicals as just "guys living in the neighborhood"

I really hope you guys are right and I am dead wrong, because these Chicago politicians, including Obama are down right scary!

8:17pm • #18

Jeff and/or Lisa - It is much easier to respect the President when the President respects human rights, civil rights, diplomacy.  We should respect a man that took away several cherished civil rights, drove this country into the toilet, and senselessly ordered the murder of hundreds of thousands of innocent people in a sovereign nation?

That's right, all of us here in Las Vegas are a bunch of whoring, gambling crack addicts.  Speaking of capitalism and free enterprise, Nevada consistently is among the top 3 of states in the nation to start and run a business in.  Granted, it's all whorehouses and opium dens...but for some reason Forbes keeps putting our numbers up there.

We consistently have 6,000-8,000 people moving to the Las Vegas metropolitan area every month. Due to our growth, the Clark County School District was needing to build 10 new schools each year just to attempt to keep up with the booming population growth.   Las Vegas is becoming one of the most respected places for fine dining and high-end boutique shopping in the entire world.  Both the Zagat and Michelin Guides continually rank Las Vegas as one of the premier destinations for dining on earth.

The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute opening next year will be second to none for research for diseases of the brain such as ALS, Alzheimers, and Parkinsons.

We offer entertainment for a wide variety of tastes and demographics.  Everything from adult cabaret type shows to resident headliners such as Bette Midler and Donny and Marie Osmond offer quality entertainment to everyone, not just what you judge as decent.  Some of the most expensive and elaborate productions ever conceived of happen here.

The reason why Las Vegas boomed the way it did was because people understand that there truly something for everyone to do here.....not just the people you judge as decent.  Las Vegas continues to improve on itself, and that's why we will come back stronger than ever and see the kind of prosperity that a few backwoods people could only dream of.  By the end of next year, the largest privately funded project in the history of the Western Hemisphere will be completed on the Las Vegas Strip in MGM/Mirage's CityCenter.  With the growth that is happening, it is estimated that over 150,000 jobs will be created here in the next 3 years.

Las Vegas is a place that you can let your hair down and have a good time, do business, raise a family, and experience things you never thought you could experience before.  Las Vegas truly celebrates a diversity in tastes, and I am forever grateful that my wife and I moved here and has had the opportunity to be part of the experience.

I hope someday you get out of your backyard and see the world for what it is, not just what FOX News and Rush Limbaugh tells you.  I almost feel sorry for your ignorance towards places outside of Lubbock.   Texas may not be my choice to live in, but I will certainly not ridicule and falsely stereotype your geographic area.  It would be appreciated if you could extend that same courtesy.

I'm very disappointed by this, but not really surprised.  The illinois political machine has produced more corrupt politicians than any other area that comes to mind.  I hope our next president isn't involved in this, but would not be surprised to see his finger prints on this somehow.  I have heard it said, "we get the leaders we deserve"

"republicans are trashed for the silliest things....i.e. Gov. Palin, George Bush, etc." - Jeff and Lisa Sellers

The fact that Jeff and Lisa refer to Gov. Palin, George Bush etc. as the silliest things is a clear indication of how they think. They too, appear to be oblivious to reality and hard facts.

10:43pm • #22

Jay,

It's disheartening to continue to hear of corruption and sad that it seems to be more the norm than the exception.

Mike - do you watch FOX News?  The following article might surprise you: http://www.variety.com/article/VR1117994881.html?categoryid=1064&cs=1.  For instance on FOX News during the election, negative stories on McCain outweighed positive ones by almost 2-to-1, the proportion of negative stories on both candidates was perfectly balanced at 40% each, and, listen to this shocker - the channel reported more positive stories on Obama (25%) than McCain (22%).  I watch FOX news and try to watch the other ones but keep coming back to FOX because it tends to be the most balanced from what I see.  Also, do you listen to Rush Limbaugh?  I'm asking because he's the name mentioned with disdain by many members of the MSM.  Just curious to know if you listen to his show on a regular basis or just MSM clips of his show?

10:48pm • #23

Jeff & Lisa, regarding "BTW...maybe you guys in California and Las Vegas should try some of the conservative models practiced here in Texas."

I live in Kentucky (BTW, KY voted for McCain by a larger margin than TX) and have had the chance to visit both Nevada and Texas.  My travels in NV & TX were pleasant.  However, the suggestion that conservatism in Texas is good isn't really accurate - Texas has more lynchings, rapes, motor vehicle thefts and homicides per capita than Nevada.

10:53pm • #24

Stewart. I wasn't referring to Palin and Bush as the silliest things.  I was saying that Palin, for example, was slammed by the liberal left from day one.  She wasn't even slammed for political views.  She was slammed because she claims to be a Christian and believes in the sanctity of human life, and her teenage daughter was pregnant.  Porn videos were made of her.  Incestual comments were made about her husband.  All so unfounded....Her wardrobe was criticized when it was paid for by the republican party and later given to charity.  Did they ever mention how much Obama's custom made suits cost.  Of course not, who really cares though.  Did they mention how much his Greek columns cost at mile high stadium and that whole big dog and pony show?

They make fun of Bush because he had a Texas accent and he wasn't the most eloquent speaker...(I'd rather have someone who is honest than someone who is a smooth talker/slick willy type)....but you believe the way you want to believe and I'll believe what I believe and let's let some other people have a chance to comment.

I'm out...

10:53pm • #25

Jay - Thanks.  Interesting point that I was unaware of......I don't want anyone to think I'm being racists or unloving, but Texas is a large border state and we have A LOT OF CRIMES FROM ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and look which party predominantly wants to open up the borders for anyone and everyone without any obligations or responsibility.

That's all...thanks for allowing me to comment.

Stephanie - Fox news is the closest thing to fair and balanced that I've found.

Sean Hannity is a great American.  I encourage everyone to give him a listen every now and then.

11:01pm • #27

Stephanie - Maybe it just goes to show you how horrifying of a candidate John McCain was that even Faux News couldn't come up with enough spin to get him over Obama.   I listened to Limbaugh once or twice years ago to see what all of the fuss was about.  I felt like I need to soak my ears in Listerine for 2 days after listening to his filth.  From what I heard on those complete shows, the clips shown of him on other networks (I don't really watch MSNBC all that much, more of a CNN guy) is a fairly accurate representation.  The guy is an idiot.

And another point about the F word network, even Rupert Murdoch has been documented as being sickened by how awful his network has gotten, and has a deep resentment for Bill O'Reilly.  That speaks volumes as to the credibility of FOX when even Murdoch thinks it sucks.

Sellers - Wow, just when we're reeling from one off the wall comment, you fire back with another one and somehow manage to place blame on crimes associated with racial intolerance to illegal immigration.  On second thought, do the world a favor and stay in Lubbock

11:12pm • #28

You don't believe you have stereotyped Bush, Palin and myself as backwoods hillbillies that know nothing about the rest of the world??? Believe it or not, I've lived all over the United States and seen a lot. Bush and Palin have been stereotyped, criticized and made fun of more than any others for their accents and states they are from.  Good day!

11:16pm • #29

I guess I'll keep clinging to  God and  guns...just like Obama accused the people in rural areas of Pennsylvania.  I'm really not a redneck, but I'll keep letting you guys think that.

11:20pm • #30

Sellers - By all over the United States, do you mean Dallas to Denton to Lubbock?  Just curious.

I'm not stereotyping anyone.  Bush is a war criminal.  He supports torture, he authorized the invasion of a sovereign nation under false pretenses.  I'm not even going to touch on the man's I.Q.

Palin is stupid.  She proved it time and time again every time she opened her mouth in an interview.  It's not spin, it's watching her speak and knowing she knows nothing about the Constitution, world geography or basically anything else that should be important for a potential VP to have.  She had to go to 5 different colleges to get a communications degree.  The woman is stupid.

I don't care what anybody's accent is, stupid is as stupid does.  I have seen many brilliant Texans speak complete with accent.  I have also seen stupid, and I see that in both Bush and Palin.

Great post, Jay. There should be a zero tolerance for any corruption coming from the Democratic Party. Corruption destroyed the Republican Party (for at least a few cycles) and if we want to continue to push the progressive agenda we so desperately need in this country, we can't have liabilities like Blagojevich around.

Obama's new plan will help deal with the Republican neglect for our infrastructure and the Bush recession. They left a big mess for the country and it will take years do undo the unmitigated disaster that was the Bush presidency.

Hugh, you don't think King George is going to fade away into the sunset, do you? There's a reason why 80% of the country has a serious dislike for this man. His disastrous reign will be talked about for generations in this country. The damage he did to the Constitution alone is legendary. Not to mention;

Allowing a US City to drown
Tapping the phones of Americans without a warrant
Passing laws then deciding he which ones he would follow - or not
Taking the country to a war based on lies and deceit
War profiteering
Ignoring intelligence related to 9/11
The Bush Recession
Blatantly disregarding the Geneva Conventions regarding torture

When will the Republicans realize that January 20th isn't a "do-over" date.  The disastrous and criminal acts of the Bush Administration have far reaching arms and the effects from the worst president in this nation's history won't just be felt for a few months after he leaves office, but the atrocities committed by this man will be felt for generations.

I think it is a shame and a waste of a brilliant man that his first term will be made up primarily of clean up.

And if you looked at the reports and transcripts of the investigation, you would see that many times, Blogojevich complained that Obama wasn't playing ball with his disgusting methods.  If nothing, Obama will come out of this with more respect and more admiration.  It's good to see the politician that headed up the most sweeping ethics reform ever produced follows his own words.

Joe, that's exactly why the Republican Party was destroyed on November 4th.

They refused to hold Bush acocuntable for anything during his term. By the time Democrats took over it was too late to do anything and even then the Republican obstructionists would have made impeachment impossible.

That's a mistake the Democrats cannot afford to make and this Blagojevich incident should be a wake up call to Democrats that corruption will not be tolerated within the party.

Hi Joe,

I do believe that Blagojevich needs to resign and if he doesn't, the Illinois lawmakers need to impeach him out!   It totally amazes me that this politician believes they have "free range" to anything he wants.  Then the Illinois Supreme Court needs to have another election for the empty Illinois Senator seat and Governor's seat.   This will keep the people from doubting the next Governor & Senator of illinois.

Maybe we should have more random wiretapping for ALL THE POLITICIANS elected, it will keep them on a straight track for the people, especially if they believe they are being electronically heard.  It will force them to think twice before playing the "Power Game"...  It will force their "egos" to be tamed again....

It was entertaining watching the news conference yesterday and hearing the number of reporters attacking the US attorneys office and the FBI for their methods and for jumping the gun by arresting Blago before he actually did anything wrong. You think their response would have been different if this had been a Republican governor going down in flames? The name Tony Rezco seems to be central to a lot of Illinois politics these days - including Obama. I sincerely hope Obama is squeeky clean and we don't spend his first term trying to clean up his connections. I would feel better if he had been fully vetted by the media during the campaign as he should have been. This country doesn't need another distraction like that right now.

Gene, I'm curious as to what you mean 'vetted'? Don't you think any dirt would have come out by now? Or do you believe the MSM was in the tank for Obama? Didn't the McCain campaign do a little 'vetting' of Obama as well? And when they couldn't find anything, they came up with "Obama is trying to teach sex ed to kindergardners" or "pals around with terrorists".

Douche hats are still grasping at straws with the birth certificate non-issue.

Even Shite Hannity couldn't connect Blago with Obama last night.

Of course Noqui but we didn't get to be in the mess we're in from GWB alone.  Yes, part of it was on his watch but a lot of our current problems have been due to the Democrat Congress, idiots like Barney Frank and left over garbage from Clinton. I'm obviously not going to get an answer on what were the charges officially filed against Bush that make him a criminal.  I don't buy that they ran out of time, nor do I buy that they didn't want to pursue it. Evil Pelosi has demonstrated that she will do whatever she can to defame Bush, as long as it doesn't involve facts or truth.  I know, I know, the economy suffered during Bush's term and we shouldn't have gone to war, yada, yada, WHERE ARE THE CRIMINAL CHARGES?  Without any, it is against the law to refer to someone as a criminal.

Brenda above brings up a good point.  What about Dem Congress not passing a free trade bill.  That could have a small affect on the economy.

Jay - The initial questions were fairly mundane who, what, where kinds of things but the last third definitely got testier. I've heard the same comment from several others as well wondering who the press thought the real bad guys were - Blago or the Police. There were some very pointed and persistent questions about the use of wiretaps, the timing of the arrest, the US Attorney's attempts to smear Obama (he clearly stated early on there was no contact with Obama) and a series of questions more in line with investigator malfeasance rather than the Governors malfeasance. Especially after the lead guy kept refusing to be baited into giving his personal opinons on matters and referring them to the 75 page complaint for the legal opinion, they resorted to a bunch of 'gotcha' questions, which he also avoided.

Liberals never cease to amaze me, especially this MIKE D....... OF LAS VEGAS.  FYI MIKE, I lived many years 150 miles from Chicago, which is nowhere near Denton or Dallas.  I actually spent many years in Houston.  Although it is in Texas, you may have heard of it before.  Last time I checked it was the 4th largest city in the U.S.  I think Chicago was 3rd.  I've also spent some years in New Mexico.  When liberals can't get away with lieing they turn into smartalics.

As for this NOQUI A......, what crimes are you talking about???  Bush is not a criminal!  Are you kidding me?  You don't have to agree with him on everything.  I don't either.  But, he is far from being a criminal.  Allowing a city to drown???  I guess your reference is to New Orleans.  I forgot that national tragedies happen.  I'm sure the governor down there was not to blame for anything.  Go ahead and blame something else on the President.  Are you suggesting 9/11 was his fault as well???

STEWART PENN in Los Angeles thinks Bush and Cheney should be arrested....Dude, you've been spending way too much time watching movies and hanging out w/HOLLYWOOD liberals!  Come back to reality!

CAN LIBERALS PLAY THE SPIN GAME OR WHAT?

P.S.   Actually it does cause me great concern that OBAMA PALS AROUND W/ UNREPENTANT TERRORISTS, THAT HE WILL NOT WEAR A FLAG ON HIS LAPEL AND THAT HE BRAGGED ABOUT WANTING TO TEACH SEX ED. TO KINDERGARTNERS...YES, I DO HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Oh, and who is "Shite" Hannity.  I know Sean Hannity and he is a GREAT AMERICAN and defender of the constitution of the United States of America!  The only person in America that reminds me of the Shiite Muslims is Mr. Obama.  Didn't he say in his own book that,"when things get really tough, I will stand with the Muslims?"  I don't own a copy of his book, so forgive me if that is not the exact quote, but i think i'm pretty close!  Didn't he also say something about his "muslim, I mean, Christian faith"....We have muslims living in this country.  If that is what he believes, why doesn't he just admit it.  OH, I forgot, he was a member of Wright's "Christian" church for 20 years.  If he was so faithful there, then WHY DID HE DECIDE TO LEAVE WHEN THE TRUTH OF THIS CHURCH'S TEACHING CAME OUT?

WILL THE REAL BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA PLEASE STEP FORWARD AND TELL US WHO YOU ARE.

Bush and Cheney criminals.  I'm sorry, but I still can't believe that one....You guys are probably the same people that would say the democrats and Obama had no connections with ACORN either right?

Jay,

I say it is another great example of where things are today.  If it could happen, I would love to see about 75% of all politicians voted out of office.  We have a little small time local politician in the area right now on the run from the cops because they are on to his little serial rapist problem.  We need men and women with some integrity and values.  Also, they need to paid less!  Maybe then they would be in it for the right reasons.

Sellers,  Save your fingers and keyboard.  The ones you are arguing with are not worth your time, trust me.  They speak of hate and practice it too.

Hugh,  Who will they blame in the future??

Jay - the President Elect certainly has some interesting buddies. It's like this dark cloud follows him around and he simply doesn't understand who he is associating himself with. That should scare us all.

BO really does have some interesting buds Simon. I think he is one of THEM.  Yesterday even the liberal media was attacking BO for being vague and for not being upfront yesterday about his discussions with Blago after he promised he would always be upfront with the American people.  BO was definately choosing his vauge words carefully. Today the media will be questioning BO again so it should be most interesting.  Just knowing BO is a politician from Illinois is scarey enough not to mention he would never produce his birth certificatel.

Why do people think they can get away with things like this?  Is it because many actually do?

It's repugnant and disgusting!

I had an interesting thought about this. Everyone is wondering why the governor was having these converstations on the phone if he already knew he was being investigated. Might it be because the feds have already turned him and he was trying to get others to implicate themselves? After all you don't really think he is going to go down alone do you?. It will be very interesting to see if Obama fires Fitzgerald when he takes office.

8:24am • #68

Brenda - I'm with you 100% ....it took me a second to figure out who BO was.  I thought you were referring to their body odor. ha!  Scary democratics from Chicago.  And, last but not least, we have our 1st president elect who won't even produce a birth certificate??? Come on!  We have millions of candidates to choose from that are Americans.  Why do we need someone who isn't as commander in chief?

Tools of the right are in for a few, rough years. This is going to be better than the witch hunt against Bill Clinton. I can almost picture the morons pounding their heads against the wall at the insane asylum as they try to dig up dirt on President Barack Obama.

9:36am • #70

witch hunt against bill clinton??? oh, so you don't believe he had sexual relations with "that woman" and then lied to everyone about it? How do you think he developed his nickname "slickwilly"

9:54am • #71

Ah, good old SLICK WILLY!  What a great example of a MAN!  What a great example of a husband!  What a great example of a DAD!

9:57am • #72

If Bill was unfaithful to his wife and lied about it to her and the American people, how can we trust him to be honest with the American people and his day to day dealings.

Looks to me like BO is borrowing some chapters from BC book on how to lie, cheat and steal and still have the support of at least 1/2 of America.

Illinois politics, what about the Illinois population that keeps electing these fools.  5 of the last 9 Governors have been indicted?  Does the office make the criminal or are these politicians already lacking character when they win the popularity contest.

I think the Union should consider asking Illinois to succeed.  They may lack the ability to make informed voting decisions.

Joe - It's sad to see the poor choices and terrible character problems in Illinois.  Your comment about Illinois succeeding is about right.  Some have joked in Texas that we should succeed.  We are not trying to brag, but I guess like many other states, we are conservative and are sick and tired of the rest of the country going to pot over dishonest politicians.  Does anyone besides me agree that after killing innocent babies was legalized, since prayer was taken out of school, and God was blasphemed, ignored and NOT trusted, our country has continued to go further and further downhill?

Dave - While I appreciate your sentiment, I'm concerned about you being a little naive in saying you hope Obama DOESN'T get caught up in this.  DON'T YOU THINK HE HAS ALREADY BEEN RIGHT IN THE BIG MIDDLE OF IT?  It won't be long before more dirt is brought up about him.  He is just a dishonest individual.  Let's hope he can CHANGE and start telling the truth.

Here's a list of other things we also don't do anymore, and we've somehow managed to survive. I guess we were doomed the moment we outlawed slavery and stopped stoning women.

  • DEUTERONOMY 22:13-21
If it is discovered that a bride is not a virgin, the Bible demands that she be executed by stoning immediately.
  • DEUTERONOMY 22:22
If a married person has sex with someone else's husband or wife, the Bible commands that both adulterers be stoned to death.
  • MARK 10:1-12
Divorce is strictly forbidden in both Testaments, as is remarriage of anyone who has been divorced.
  • LEVITICUS 18:19
The Bible forbids a married couple from having sexual intercourse during a woman's period. If they disobey, both shall be executed.
  • MARK 12:18-27
If a man dies childless, his widow is ordered by biblical law to have intercourse with each of his brothers in turn until she bears her deceased husband a male heir.
  • DEUTERONOMY 25:11-12
If a man gets into a fight with another man and his wife seeks to rescue her husband by grabbing the enemy's genitals, her hand shall be cut off and no pity shall be shown her.
  • THANK YOU GOD , FOR THE SEPERATION OF CHURCH AND STATE.

P.S I'm all for the State of Texas seceding. It might bring the collective IQ of the country up. And take George Bush with you. Isn't there a village missing its idiot down there?

    7:48am • #77

Jeff and Lisa, I also believe that it is bad to "kill innocent babies", whether their skin tone is different from yours or if they grow up to speak a different language than you or if they are born to a family that has different religious beliefs than you and even if they are Iraqi.

Did George W. Bush never read anything about Thou Shalt Not Kill?

If Darfur had the oil reserves of Iraq, "W" would have been concerned and helped to save 400,000 lives.

    8:18am • #78

The "holy rollers" give Bush a pass on "Thou Shall Not Kill" for the deaths of 4500 Americans and who knows how many innocent Iraqis. They should rename that Commandment, "Thou shall not kill, except to further your neo-conservative agenda for __________________________," (insert convenient reason here)

Had to chuckle at the juxtaposition or two political cartoons today - one showed the toxic pit of Illinois politics and asked 'How does Obama emerge from that pit without getting dirty?' The reponse is 'Don't you know? He walks on water.'

The 2nd cartoon showed a similar slime pit with Obama walking across it. The caption was "The miracle is not that he walks on water but that he manages to do it without getting any of it on himself." For the good of our country I am sincerely hoping he is squeeky clean in this. Between Emanuel & Axelrod it's gonna be a tough sell.

Political corruption is an illness that undermines our democracy.  We elect officials to public office and expect them to be working on behalf of the people; unfortunately there are those who exploit their offices and powers for their own benefit.  In my view they all should be removed from office (regardless of political affiliation).

Hi Jay, Long time NO See (hear)! Still in Calif. for a month with family and in and out of USC. Just HAD to toss my hat in to the ring on this one.

Great Post and Kudos to upright men such as yourself, Mike D. ( a genius), Stewart P. (a man after God's own Heart) and Noqui, who as usual offers logic and insight to every thread where he comments and posts.

IMHO, the Illinois Governor thought (in his crazed mind) he was above the law.

To those that try to link this to Obama: You go, girls and boys! Too bad it is so important to attempt to bring down the  man who might just live to be the Greatest President in United States History. OH DARN! the party line huggers are ONLY interested in a republican being the greatest! Too bad they care MORE about the Right wing than America as a whole.

To people that make statements such as the following:

"Liberals never cease to amaze me, especially this MIKE D....... OF LAS VEGAS" (and the rest of this comment that followed)

I get so peeved at people like this If I had hair I would pull it out!

To those of you who know me and my situation and my profound belief in God I can only hope that the God I will meet at the end of my journey is not welcoming people with open arms such as comment in these posts that THINK they are so self Righteous they believe God will receive them with a loud "well done, enter now into the joy of the Lord". Before that takes place there needs to be a tremendous amount of repenting from some people that THINK they have it all figured out.

Please God send me where ever men and women like Mike D., Jay, Stewart, Terry and Noqui will join me someday.

Merry Christmas To all my friends I Love you and wish you a Happy New Year!

Like Richard Nixon said: "If the President does it it's not illegal".   Blago has been an arrogant jerk that duped most Illioians for years. This is just what you would expect from him.  He's part of the Chicago political machine that is founded on graft and corruption.  The sad part of it all is they have been getting away with it at the public's expense for over 100 years with no end in sight.  I'm so glad I moved!

Hugh, Iraq is benefiting from budget surpluses.  If oil is not contributing to these surpluses, what is?

The Department of Energy noted in its Iraq country brief that: "the true resource potential may be far greater than 112 billion barrels. However, the country is relatively unexplored due to years of war. Iraq's oil production costs are amongst the lowest in the world, making it a highly attractive oil prospect.

Blagojevich and Bush are both prime examples of corruption on both sides of the aisle.

Jay, Love your Voice. WOW no wonder you went in to broadcasting.

Tana, PLEEEEZE DO NOT pray for me. There is a FINE line between Christianity and Witchcraft. So fine indeed is that line that MANY well meaning Christians cross over without even realizing it. As the Bible says "lay hands suddenly on no man" I also am cautious about people that are insulting and self-righteous saying prayers for me. Perhaps when you are close to death you might better be suited to lecture me and  others. I AM CERTAIN when you face death your outlook on life, ALL humanity, God's LOVE and  the world at large will greatly change. Take it from one who knows or leave my words in the dust and be the self deceived person you appear to be by the words you write in these forums. Seems your own mirror needs dusting off.

I was busy over the weekend, so I missed all of the fun. I was immersed in sin, smoking cigarettes, drinking, having sex out of wedlock, cursing like a sailor, hanging out with gay people. Boy, I'm in trouble now.

Tana, I'm glad you found something better than Obama's birth certificate to complain about. You say there's no reasoning with me, but yet you think people would reason with your moonbat lunacy regarding Obama's birth certificate? Before you pray for anyone, pray for yourself. Pray that God will relieve you of the hatred your carrying around.

Hugh, if you think my comments are boorish, they are only in response to the outlandishness of wet brained Bible beaters that swear the world has to live ACCORDING to how they've decided, based on their interpetration of the scriptures. Not the Constitution, nor the laws created by men.

Noqui for your information I am different nationality myself but I don't go around bashing my Country, my Constitution, my President and calling people names who don't have the same views as I do.  It's not me but you and other's like you are the ones that are racists ignorant morons making asinine comments.  You know nothing but name calling since you can't back up anything you say with facts.  Your candidate won so it looks like you would be content and happy. I guess old habits of whining, complaining and bullying are hard for some to  break.  Bless your heart!

BTW, Obama is not our first black president so I don't get the race card being played here.  As a matter of fact there were at least 5 presidents before him with black ancestors:  Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge.  Obama may well be the first president who is not legally a citizen of our country so that may be a first.

The name calling is so childish, silly and unbecoming.  I would hope we could all have  respectful discussions and act like intelligent adults when posting here.

Dear Blessed Brenda. I was going to let this go but since you are a loving Christian I thought I would post a reply. My name is Chris Keith. No one is bashing GOD...only those who are part of hypocritical organized religions who use it as an excuse to kill, demean groups of people and try to sway the politics of this country that is based on separation of church and state. Sounds like you are one of those.

I’m very happy you support Obama. I guess after your team lost you had no choice but to join the winning team eh? I also PRAY that he is able to correct 8 years of total debauchery of a presidency that is “W”.

“It's not me but you and other's like you are the ones that are racists ignorant morons making asinine comments.” “The name calling is so childish, silly and unbecoming. I would hope we could all have respectful discussions and act like intelligent adults when posting here.” See quote above and swallow it.

Nogui always backs up his posts with hard facts based on REALITY. Maybe you should look into that.

I just love how you schmavericks love to bring up spin about Obama not being a legal citizen of this country. You need to stop watching FIX news and look up some facts for a change.

Bless YOUR heart and may whatever GOD you serve has mercy on your soul.

Feel free to come back with some witty response, you won't get a rise out of me any further.

I'm sorry Brenda, I didn't realize we had suspended the right to dissent in this country. Maybe I was too busy complaining and whining to notice.

I'm glad you support our President. He deserves a crack at the job. Its going to be a tough job, considering the mess he's being left with. I won't be easy on him, either. We've got to hold everyones feet to the fire. I posted a comment earlier before the thread went off about the Blago mess being a wake up call for Democrats in this country. We all know what the culture of corruption did to your party. We shouldn't tolerate that from any of our elected leaders. They deserve to be called out when they make mistakes. That's not bashing the country.

As far as the name calling goes, I'm not the only one who engages in that here. Everyone does it.

"Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich sent a rather scathing letter to Mike Duncan on Tuesday, accusing the RNC chairman of engaging in "a destructive distraction" by attempting to tie Barack Obama to Rod Blagojevich."

Its going to be a long road back if Republicans keep acting like its 2004. Rove's star has finally burned out, when Gringrich, an adulterer himself and who pushed to impeach Bill Clinton tells Republicans to pipe down.

Arizona 1911, Preamble  We, the people of the State of Arizona, grateful to Almighty God for our liberties, do ordain this Constitution...

Brenda, Not Getting your Point?????     As Jay stated the Constitution WAS written without declaring "A"  SPECIFIC God.

George Washington himself was a High ranking Mason who believed in  "A Deity" But never the Sovereign God of "The Bible". Many of our forefathers involved in the writing of the Constitution were Masons and not necessarily the type of  "Christians" as you believe yourself to be.

The America's were founded on FREEDOM of RELIGION!  ALL RELIGION.

What would you think 10 years from now there were a vast number of Muslims or another religious group such as Mormons in this country and they began to gather in their meeting places to ban together to change all our MAN-made laws to fit THEIR beliefs? Such as, NO Divorce, or putting to death adulterous women, or polygamy? 10 wives to each man????

The same way you Conservative Christians attempt to change man-made laws such as Gay-rights and abortion to fit your Beliefs.

The POINT IS!  The UNITED States of America is made up of literally millions of people from ALL Nations, ALL Walks of Life, ALL religious doctrines and agnostics and atheists as well.

IMHO, If you Conservative Christians  DON"T  LOVE ALL PEOPLE and FEAR their ways might rub off on you and your children and their children perhaps it is time for YOU to do as the Pilgrims did and move on to a place where you are ALL the same and DO NOT have to live in FEAR!

YOU FEAR GAY'S WILL INFLUENCE YOUR KIDS so you attempt to ban their equal rights.. YOU FEAR ABORTION WILL ALWAYS BE LEGAL and fight to take away a woman's right to choose. YOU FEAR THE DECLINE IN MORALITY WILL HARM YOUR KIDS. YOU FEAR THE MOVIES, THE T.V., THE INTERNET, THE MUSLIMS, THE PRESIDENT-ELECT, and the list goes on and on.

You ALL repeatly make statements about FEAR, Being SCARED of President-elect Obama and the HARM he will do to this country.

Funny, BUT MY Bible teaches me that in God's PERFECT LOVE there is NO Fear. OF ANYTHING OR ANYONE.

Sorry Jay, your post seems to keep getting Hi-jacked ever since Tana chimed in insulting Noqui and warning Sellers to stay away from him. I would THINK that decision COULD have been made by Sellers without Tana rudely throwing her pompous --- around. Long live the Zealots!!!!!!!

    Jay,

Have these people fallen and Bumped their heads????

I have re-read my last comment 10 times trying to figure out WHERE they see anger in me. I am dumbfounded.

I spoke out my humble opinion in the most forthright simple terms I could. Speaking with  NOTHING but love and hope in my heart that these narrow minded people might see a glimmer of light shinning on the fact that there are millions of Americans that do not believe as they do.

They call White, Black and Black, White. They call someone who disagrees with them angry and unhappy.

WOW I haven't a clue where their minds are?? Thank God, because I don't want to know.

My life is at total peace and ready for the next journey. I have attempted to help the deaf hear, and the blind see and they choose to remain deaf and blind to the reality of the World and the many variations of the people we co-habitate with. Unfortunately it is these people who are angry that the world is not just like them.

My prayer is for Freedom to all my brothers and sisters to be all that you choose to be and that you are now. We are ALL children of God and ALL meet our Maker and stand alone before Him with open hearts, minds and souls.

My last Hope and Epitaph TO MY FRIENDS  is "NEVER LET ANY MAN (or woman) JUDGE YOU"  PEACE!!!!!!

Linda you have a depth that surely those who haven't been brainwashed would understand.

Unfortunately they will never listen because of that very fear of what's different then they are. And they will hide behind the Lord and say we are bashing God and are immoral.

These modern Inquisitors, who slay with the typed word, don't care what we have to say.

That's where the genuis of the Founding Fathers lies. They knew about these intolerant tyrants, who would punish in the name of God and not by the laws of men and they declared a freedom from religion.

Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptistsin in 1802:
"Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State"

Liberals always think they are so brilliant. And all others are bigots and racists. Jefferson wrote that in a  letter and was his OPINION, not fact.

Prayer has gone on in the House and Senate SINCE IT FIRST BEGAN,

Congress prays before each session, so tell us brilliant ones, where is that a seperation of church and state?

Jesus came to shed his Blood for the UN-righteous and walked among sinners shunning the religious leaders and their pompous ways. He declared we will know His followers by their fruits. Many of us here on this site can not imagine God's TRUE disciples speaking such words to peers. Knowing God and His Word is NOTHING if not put in to practice.

"Congress prays before each session, so tell us brilliant ones, where is that a seperation of church and state?"

Well I am NOT Brilliant BUT I am SMART enough to READ. Clearly there is NOTHING (totally)Christian about the opening prayer.

The Following is regarding the LAWS concerning opening prayers for the House and Senate of the United States of America.

Miller issues prayer guidelines for Senate

But some lawmakers say statement is not enough

The Senate President  issued yesterday a statement of religious "do's and don'ts" for his legislative body's daily opening prayer, after complaints from several lawmakers about invocations often focusing solely on Christianity.

Miller stopped short of eliminating the prayer as part of the start of Senate business but called on lawmakers and clergy to ensure that all prayers remain ecumenical in nature and respectful of all faiths.
Miller distributed guidelines published by the National Conference for Community and Justice, formerly the National Conference for Christians and Jews. The guidelines suggest that prayers use such closing statements as "hear our prayer," "in thy name," or simply "amen."

But some senators say a statement of the policy is not enough. They want Miller to eliminate prayer as part of the Senate's official business, as the House of Delegates has done.

The Senate usually invites clergy of various religions - including the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Hindu faiths - to perform the opening prayer as lawmakers begin their daily business during the 90-day session.
The trouble, some lawmakers say, is that four times since the session began two weeks ago, ministers and one senator have violated the longstanding policy of giving prayers that avoid naming a specific deity. Each of the four times the prayer ended with a reference to Jesus, which some senators felt was inappropriate.

Jay, Sorry for the hijack and partial copy and paste but no one complained when Brenda shared the Preamble copy and paste.

Again, the Bible beaters are blinded by their "righteousness". At last we see what is wrong with this world and country. The Crusades are alive and well, being channeled through these blind patriots.

You can pray to God. Nothing wrong with prayer. But when you start using it as a measuring stick for how I should live my life; here we part company my friend. The world is in chaos, has been in chaos, by the atrocities committed by man in the name of God.

    That's why religion has no place in government. It never has and never will. The wisdom of the Founding Fathers is so clearly evident;

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Tana, I will ask again "Why do you believe that EVERYONE that does not THINK like you is ANGRY?

Is the mind such a little thing that it can not accept that in this HUGE world of MILLIONS their are truly happy Jews, Muslims, Gays, Agnostics, Atheists, Mormons and others who live totally happy lives?

People express their OWN views about numerous beliefs, opinions and interpretations. Because they are different than you does NOT make them angry.

I see Mike D. as a happily married, jolly, hard working, intelligent soul who comes here to share his opinions and knowledge.

Noqui also attempts to share facts or his opinion and you three  don't  comment back with your take on the subject at hand. .

WHY do you, A CHRISTIAN, and Nick and Hugh continue to attack these men just because they are different??? Should not a Christian bring light to EVERY situation? Why Do you continue to chase people from Christianity instead of loving ALL men into the Flock? Don't you REALIZE it is your DUTY to God to be a light and DRAW ALL MEN UNTO THE FATHER?

In any situation is it right to give ANY ONE cause to say "If you are what a Christian is I DON"T want to be one? God WILL NOT accept your excuses of " Oh God, look how dumb, angry and unbelieving those people were you really didn't expect me to be kind to THOSE type of people, did you?"

AGAIN I ASK  "What would JESUS Do?"

Thank God JESUS did not treat the sinners as you three do.

Jesus did not pick religious leaders and church goers to be his Disciples and followers HE Came to earth and CHOOSE SINNERS. GEE, after listening to you three I think WE ALL can figure out WHY Jesus made that choice.

Your words L M , Glad that you finally admit that they are sinners as are we all.

On the other hand Jesus  dwelt amongst sinners so that He could bring them to redemptiom. Before they became followers they had to repent. What is so wrong with trying to bring people to redemption.  I know I sometimes offend people because I will not accept things that go against Biblical principles but i have never attacked people personally.  I think you may want to stop preaching until you live it yourself.

Why are you not outranged at the terrorists who killed 3,000 innocent Americans at the World Trade Center?  I honestly believe our President and Congress based their decision to go to Iraq on what they believed was good information. The very idea that the war was a pre-planned sinister plot of Bush is just ridiculous.  Bush wasn't even President long enough to have plotted the war when it happened.  Every congress member supported the decision to go to war.  There was plenty of time for the WMD to be hidden so no one will ever convince me there were none.

Your Messiah will be sworn into office soon.  Our Country and the Whole World is about to be saved and you should be happily looking ahead and put the past behind for you own sake.

You and a few others who have posted here have some serious misplaced anger and hatred.  Good grief, do you really think your phone might be bugged?  I feel so sorry for you that you believe all that nonsense you just posted about being deprived of our human rights.

And yes Noqui the Democrats, Slick Willie Clinton and Barney Frank in particular are responible for the housing maket and economy being in the shape it is in now.  Research your facts.

I see... but I am not as consumed with this whole Bush thing as you are... and to each their own... but I just wondered if there was anything you were upset with BEFORE Bush... I seriously wanted to hear an answer....

I get it... You dont like Bush and you think he sucks.. but its done... Bush is history (or will be soon)

Again, I dont want to argue or anything I am just trying to figure you out... I don't have enough time or energy to be so against something like that so its a bit intriguing to me.

Brenda, it is funny that you bring up how Saddam murdered hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, because now we have found common ground with Saddam Hussein and George W. Bush.  Both ordered the murder of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis.  One murdered them because the people did not support them, and the other murdered them because they happen to live there.

I do not understand why people can not separate the war that was and is being fought and the need to remove Saddam Hussein from power.  Hussein was an evil man, and certainly needed to be removed from power....but was the way to do it by "Shock and Awe" and a ground invasion?  What ever happened to the good old days where a dictator and his regime was removed by special ops and paying off domestic assassins to do the dirty work.

This war was a personification of George W. Bush.  Cowboy, in your face, grandstanding, stupid bravado versus an intelligent, precise, well thought out tactical mission.

The other thing I do not understand is that the failures of George W. Bush in many ways should not be partisan.  I understand the differences between liberalism and conservatism, but virtually every single thing George W. Bush has touched has been a miserable failure.  Why stand up for a failure of a leader just because he plays for the red team?

There was, is and always will be plenty of things to complain about....no matter if the blue team or the red team is in power.....it is just that this particular president happens to be on the red team, and this particular president happened to sign laws, promote new policies, and give orders as a Commander-in-Chief that has brought on one of the darkest times in our nations history.  While I obviously don't agree with social conservatism, it can not be solely blamed for the era in which we live in....the failure of Bush and his administration trumps every ideology there is.

    10:04pm • #166

Brenda- your a clown- do some research before you look like a complete jackass.

Tana, you know, your probably right. I have to get used to being on this side of the fence. I will be part of the politcial process to push forth an agenda to better the country. Even now, Barack has his supporters forming teams come up with proposals. He has reshaped the political landscape in this country forever.

Hugh you have some good points there. The Contract had its good points. But its been such a long time since then.

Wow - This one has really gotten nasty!  Who is this Noqui anyway?  No offense intended, but are you male or female?  Do you speak 2 languages?  Is that why you put bilingual before Durham?  Anyway, your comments are way over the top!

BRENDA JUMPED INTO THIS THREAD AND SPOKE SOME TRUTHS AND SO YOU DECIDED THAT SHE WAS A CLOWN AND A JACKASS!  Wow!  I thought Brenda's comments were excellent and very true.  The stuff about Saddam, about 911,etc.  You liberals don't get mad at that, you decide to get mad at a President who was concerned about our National Security.  Now, we are about to have a President who wants to be all the bad guys buddy and go ahead and cut our military as much as he can.

BTW THE HOUSING CRISIS DID START WITH BILL CLINTON AND ALL THE DEMS THAT WANTED ALL THESE PEOPLE TO HAVE A HOME LOAN EVEN IF THEY WEREN'T QUALIFIED...LENDERS COULDN'T TELL PEOPLE THEY WEREN'T QUALIFIED OR THEY WOULD BE LABELED AS RACISTS AND THREATENED IN SOME CASES WITH THEIR LIVES, BY ACORN AND OTHER EXTREMISTS.

BRENDA - YOU ARE A GREAT AMERICAN!  KEEP SHARING THE TRUTH AND DON'T LET THESE GUYS/GALS WHATEVER THIS NOQUI IS, GET YOU DOWN!

HUGH AND TANA...MEGA DITTOS TO YOU ALL AS WELL...

MIKE - Well, I know what you think of my comments and I'd have to say that I think the same of yours...completely ridiculous.  You sure know how to trash the President and Commander In Chief of this country.  I wonder what you'll think of "the messiah barack hussein obama" once he starts pulling some of his tricks!

Noqui, I guess you took my comment saracastically... I was serious... and sincere...

What kind of weird threat is this that you said in your last comment AFTER I WAS TRYING TO TELL you in a nice way that it would be really cool if you used all of your energy TOWARDS this New Administration who promises change and has all this good news.

"If I were you, I'd be worried about the coming wave of change. The right has no idea of what's coming"

    That sounds real promising......

Please tell me what you mean by that..... I know you won't answer me...

I have said it before and I will say it again... I am praying for the new administration all I can do is sit and wait and pray for obama... I am not one to sit here and DOG our President Elect... I have only expected him to go by the rules and you go crazy over that.

Once more  all I was saying is that if you believe in obamas words and the CHANGE and all that then it seems like you could use all of your energy that you put in to HATING BUSH into your NEW wave of change and all of the positive words that have been thrown around.  Why are you so mad?

This is what I mean when I say there is no reasoning with you...You should be happy you should be spreading good cheer and getting ready for the new start.  Instead you just keep on and on about Bush and negative things.  My last comment to you was more of a compliment than anything..come out of the dark....your candidate won.. I am sure he would rather you spend your time helping him than drudging up the past which is anything from yesterday and before...

    7:45am • #173

Noqui - Thank you for bringing that up about not taking the Lord's name in vain.  I really appreciate that.  That is the thing that most troubles me about "some" who supported Obama and referred to him as the messiah, savior, etc.  I think it is terrible blaspemy.  Thankfully Obama has never called himself that and hopefully the majority of the people that voted for him, would not either.  However, there is a radical view held by at least some on the left that are calling him their messiah.  I would never capitalize that.  I think it is horrible.  Farrahkan and others called him that.  I was simply trying to repeat what at least "some" of Obama's supporters were calling him.  I sincerely hope and pray that the huge majority of Obama voters don't take it to that extreme.  Thanks again for bringing that up.

I contend that IF Jesus has men and women on AR he wants Saved He WILL NOT send people to do it by calling them idiots, nut jobs, brain-dead, murderers and PIGS. GOD DOES NOT SAVE OTHERS BY BEHAVING THIS WAY.

Jay - I can appreciate some of that.  That's why I said "some".  Sorry to keep bringing up Farrahkan, but maybe he was the main one and then people picked up on that.  You would have to admit there were people blindly following him around chanting "YES WE CAN....CHANGE,CHANGE,CHANGE" and had not the foggiest clue what they were talking about.  If your views are more democratic and you don't really like republican ways, then I can kind of respect that, but when you are just a brainwashed follower of this guy, that's what is so troubling.  Did you not see those teachers who were teaching those little children all those spooky militant chants about Obama?  Did you not hear Farrahkan proclaiming to his people that Obama (the Messiah) has come?!?!  Did you hear the lady interviewed that was weeping with joy saying how she would never have to make another mortgage payment or pay for gasoline,etc...that Obama(big government)was going to solve all her problems.

No, I wouldn't expect the average middle mainstream American democrat to call him that.  I'll agree with you there Jay.  However, there is some pretty scary stuff on that left wing, and I would say the same about any on the right who would blindly follow after a republican politician chanting and carrying on with no clue of what they stood for.  Most republicans I knew were not that fond of John McCain, but saw him as the lesser of two evils, so to speak.  Maybe that's why he didn't have more support because the republicans were more realistic and were going up against Obamamedia!!!

    Thanks Jay!

LOVE your enemies Luke 6:27, "But I say unto you that listen. Love your enemies, do GOOD to those who hate you. 28, Bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. 29, If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other cheek as well: and from anyone who takes away your coat give him also your shirt. 30, Give to everyone who begs from you: and if anyone takes away your goods do not ask for them back. 31, DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU.

32, If you love only those who love you, what credit to you is that? For even sinners love those that love them. 33, If you only do good to those that do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same.

35, "But LOVE your enemies, do good and lend, expecting NOTHING in return. Then will your reward be great and then you will be the children of the Most High. FOR GOD IS KIND TO THE UNGRATEFUL AND THE WICKED.

Jeff and Lisa, many of my Republican friends made the same observation you referenced - they didn't really want McCain. Many of my Democrat friends made similar comments about Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004, but not about Obama in 2008 - they didn't see him as the messiah, they saw him as an exceptionally intelligent leader that had the fortitude to align himself with a dynamic and capable staff.

68% of Hispanic church attending EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS voted for Obama

39% of  White church attending EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS voted for Obama.

No, Linda, that is not what I ever said at all!  I have some Christian friends and relatives who voted for Obama.  I HAPPEN TO DISAGREE WITH THEIR JUDGMENT AND PREFERENCE FOR PRESIDENT...NOT THEIR SALVATION!!!  IN MY OPINION...OBAMA WAS NOT THE BEST CHOICE...THAT IS ONLY MY OPINION!!!  OPINION!!!

ABORTION AND HOMOSEXUALITY ARE AN ABOMINATION OF THE LORD!  HOWEVER, THOSE ARE ONLY 2 ISSUES THE PRESIDENT ELECT AND MANY DEMOCRATS BELIEVE IN.  I NEVER SAID THAT ANYONE WAS GOING TO HELL FOR VOTING FOR OBAMA!!!  THAT'S RIDICULOUS.  I JUST DON'T THINK OBAMA MATCHES CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES AND VALUES VERY WELL.  I think there are Christians who overlooked his beliefs on these issues when they voted.  I'm sure there were things about the Republican ticket I overlooked, because I believe so strongly in the SANCTITY OF LIFE AND MARRIAGE BETWEEN A MAN AND WOMAN ONLY! I think there were other things about Obama that must have led them to vote for him in spite of his stance on these things.  I don't believe the polls too much, but they don't surprise me much either.  It is sad to say, but I also believe....HERE I GO AND I KNOW I'LL PROBABLY BE CALLED A RACIST HERE AND EVERYTHING ELSE...I ALSO BELIEVE there were many blacks and even hispanics that voted for him on the basis of race alone.  I'm sure "blacks" were thrilled to see a candidate from their race and that is fine.  They should be proud, but not proud enough to vote on race alone.  If John McCain was black and Obama white, I WOULD STILL HAVE VOTED FOR MCCAIN!  IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH COLOR FOR ME!!!  HOWEVER, i DO BELIEVE THERE WERE MANY ON THE OTHER SIDE THAT VOTED FOR OBAMA ON RACE ALONE.

If Michael Steele or Cond.Rice were running, I'd vote for them.  Their skin color is black by the way.  It's not about race for me...I'm a values voter.  My good Christian friends that voted for Obama just so happen to believe that Roe vs.Wade, all the abortion stuff, homo marriage, etc. will not be reversed anyway, that it is all too far along and they believe in the MAJORITY of Obama's other views more strongly than McCain's.  NO, I WOULD NEVER TELL THEM THEY WERE GOING TO HELL...YOU WERE REALLY REACHING WITH THAT COMMENT.

Inna and Linda, you all are being really ridiculous!

    2:31pm • #192

Beware of false, blind patriots. If history has shown us anything, is that we need to speak up when we think our leaders had failed us. That is not un-American or unpatriotic. I'm reminded of the story of "when they came for the Jews", but the storyteller wasn't Jewish so he didn't speak up. And when they came for him, there was no one left to speak for him.

Point is, yes the President deserves our support and respect- but this is not a monarchy. When he screws up, we have to make sure he's accountable. Or else why bother with a democracy if you can't voice your displeasure at elected leaders.

Why is it the moonbats always yelling blasphemous comments about the Messiah and then get offended by holy shit? Jolly winkers, Batman, I think my knickers are in a twist!

Tana, your right, the time has come for us to move forward. Although, I think I will tone my comments down about the outgoing POS leadership we have now. Can't wait for this Epic Fail to be over.

Jeff and Lisa - I have no problem with any of your reasons for voting the way you did. I do have a fundamental issue with your choice of descriptives and tone when you speak of those whose lifestyles or beliefs you disagree with.  If you want a government that mandates tastes, manners, lifestyles and beliefs, I think you are in the wrong country. We do have a separation for a reason.

Lastly, to both, you and Tana, it never ceases to amaze me that you choose to display your bigotry and hatred in an open real estate forum, where last I checked, most of what you despise belongs to one protect class or another....

I wonder how many Black people said "I'm voting for Obama just to stick it to the man" Though, I would believe that you would believe that Sellers. You probably don't mix with the other races very much, do you?

Obama ran a strong campaign on issues that many people cared about. Like ending the disastrous war in Iraq. Like investing in Green Technology, the new economic boom in this country. Like strengthing education. A single payer health system. These are all things that Americans overwhelmingly voted for.

McCain ran a horrible campaign, basically recycling GWB's failed policies on the war. He was clueless on the economy and his VP- let's not get into that.

    Sellers,

Thank you for clarifying your beliefs about POLITICS and RELIGION. I agree totally with you. I apologize for assuming you also believed as Hugh and his friend do.

They believe that ANYONE who voted for  Obama who is Pro-Choice and Pro-gay is deceived, un-christian and unless they REPENT for voting for Obama before they meet their maker they are INDEED GOING TO HELL!

I have ATTEMTED to NO AVAIL to make them realize that we Christians who Voted for Obama have Nothing to Repent for REGARDIND OUR VOTE AND SUPPORT FOR THE PRESIDENT ELECT. I voted for him because I believed him the SMARTEST choice. IMOHO!

While I wish there were No Abortion I do believe it is NOT the government's job to make laws regarding a woman's body. She will stand alone before God. I also do not believe the Taxpayer's should pay for abortions.

My vote was based on the economy, terroist threats, the war, health care, education and many issues I felt more comfortable with Obama. I DO NOT BELIEVE voting for Obama makes me the Horrible person Hugh and Nick say I and others are because we have consistently supported Obama.

You are new here. I can assure you if you go back to political posts and comments in my posts and others you will KNOW just how, in no UNCERTAIN TERMS these men have attacked Christians who voted for OBAMA.

They certainly have a right to believe that way and I certainly have a right to disagree with them and Represent those of us who KNOW we are Christian and voting for Obama most certainly does not need Repenting of any more than voting for Bush (and I did 2 times) because he did not make abortion illegal in the eight years time he had to at least TRY to do so.

Again, Thank you for your reply. YOU ARE 100% correct.

Linda - Thanks for humbling yourself and actually trying to understand what I have been saying. I really appreciate that.  Most of us are probably closer on things than we realize, but BOTH sides are guilty of POLARIZATION in an attempt to be "right" or to win an argument.  I'm also relieved to know you don't favor abortion.  I realize it is a personal choice and maybe at this point it will never be illegal. You know it just struck me that murder of a human outside the womb is also a personal choice and we give people the death penalty for that.  Anyway, that's another discussion.  You also said you don't believe in taxpayer $ funding abortions.  I'm afraid the democratic agenda is headed that way if not doing it already.

I'm tired of trying to win arguments.  I just want to be real and see this great country preserved.

I do love people of all races, religions or no religions.  However, when this Noqui and Inna and Mike D. try to start describing Christianity for something it isn't, I'm going to call them on it.  Hugh was right with his comment to "hate the sin" and "love the sinner".  All sins are horrible in the sight of God.  A heterosexual sin is just as bad as a homosexual one.  Adultery is just as bad as homosexuality.  I think there are those whose convictions are so strong against abortion and gay marriage that they would never vote for a candidate who condoned either one.  That doesn't necessarily mean they think everyone else who voted for him is going to hell!  By the way, what is IMOHO?  I'm sorry I don't understand what that stands for.

NOQUI AND INNA - You all are just downright hateful!  Btw, I have many friends of different races and religions. Most of my life I have been apart of multicultural churches and visited foreign countries for missionary work.  My wife and I are very active in heading up the benevolence ministry at our church that helps poor people of all races, religions, sexes, etc.  In fact, I grew up in an innercity church in downtown Houston where my dad was a minister.  I learned how to be compassionate to people of all socioeconomic, racial backgrounds.  I have been around the homeless, the convicts, all the way up to the multi-millionaires.  I've learned to respect people of all backgrounds.  However, that doesn't mean that I am not allowed my personal opinions and preferences.  It doesn't mean that I can't hold strong convictions.  I've seen the poor enabled and crippled by the welfare system.  I've seen the criminals who carry guns and  then wondered why the government would want to take away guns of the honest citizens who would use them for hunting and selfdefense.  Please Read Psalm 18:2-7 in the Old Testament of the Bible.  I'm through discussing with you guys.  It is doing no good.  I sincerely hope and pray you all will find peace that passes all understanding in the Lord Jesus Christ and that we will some day be able to embrace as brothers and sisters in Christ in heaven b/c this world is not my home, I'm just passing through.  It just breaks my heart when Satan infiltrates the hearts and minds and turns them evil.

    5:16pm • #199

Noqui-Sorry one last thing.  Please remember "to hold accountable" the next President who screws up as you have talked about. Bill Clinton was really never held accountable and I wonder if Obama will be.  I can't believe you are talking about accountability with all the crooked Pelosis, Franks, Kerrys, Clintons, Blagojeviches and other radicals out there that you seem to so quickly support.

Noqui~What gets me is how you guys bought all of Obama's lines, hook line and sinker. He is not even in yet and already backpeddling. The majority of politicians lie and a great many are corrupt. Your man obama came out of a history of corruptin. Maybe the Governor is not nervopusbecause he knows things that aren't being released yet. I think Barrack means well ands will try to do his best but  coming through on all the things he promised is just not possible. G.W. your enemy came through with loansfor the auto makers today. Congress didn't and if he was as evil as you make out he could have just said, go ahead fail let the next president  sort it out. I don't trust any politicians but I surely don't trust the ones that promise the moon. To me it doesn't matter I will never vote for a Pro-Abortion candidate. In my mind all the other issues combined do not equal that one.

I believe that nothing that happens in this world can affect me as long as I stay faithful.  But I have always hated hypocrisy and  our man Barrack does noy seem to have that strong of convictions to me. Before we can judge a man as a politician we need to judge him by his character.

    Just my opinion

Hugh - I would be interested for you to tell us how Barack Obama is backpedaling from anything he said in his campaign.  Not what the liberal media sensationalized and the conservative media just plain made up, but actual words that passed Barack Obama's lips or was written by Barack Obama's hand.

Linda Mae - Thank you so much for quite possibly the best definition I have ever seen of what a true "liberal's" position on abortion is.  No one is Pro-Abortion, we are Pro-Choice.  The government should not have a say.  People that make that difficult choice will be judged either by their maker (if you believe in that kind of thing) or by their own conscience when they wake up and look in the mirror at themselves everyday.  Aren't Conservatives the ones that are for less government?  So why should they be involved in this?

And to everyone - Since we are so far away from the original post anyway.....here's a great recipe for Banana Bread by Emeril Lagasse.  Enjoy!

    Ingredients

    • 10 tablespoons plus 1 teaspoon butter
    • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2 large bananas)
    • 1/2 cup sour cream
    • 2 large eggs
    • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
    • 2 cups cake flour
    • 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup toasted, chopped walnuts

    Directions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

    Lightly grease a 9 1/4 by 5 1/4 by 2 1/2-inch loaf pan with 1 teaspoon of the butter.

Puree the bananas, sour cream, eggs and vanilla in a food processor.

Sift the cake flour, sugar, baking soda, baking powder and salt into the bowl of an electric mixer fixed with a whisk attachment. Add the remaining 10 tablespoons butter and mix on medium-low speed until blended, about 30 seconds. Add the banana mixture in 3 batches, scraping the sides of the bowl and mixing on medium speed between each addition. Fold in the nuts.

Pour into the loaf pan. Bake until lightly browned and bread bounces back to the touch, about 1 hour 10 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool for 10 minutes before turning out onto wire rack to cool completely.

Mike~Withdrawal in 16 months has now become go along with the present plan of 30 months

Raising taxes on those makeing over 250,000 has become, just let the Bush tax cuts run out in 2010

For one of the most Liberal senators(which helped him win) he has a decidedly center right cabinet~Praise the Lord.

We shall see after he is actually in office and I do agree with all those positions but they are not the positions he was elected on.

I predict that by the end of four years he will do a decent job but the left will hate him as much as they currently hate Bush. Hate is what they do well anyway.

When will hard working Americans stand up and throw all these bums out. We talk and blog which amounts to doing nothing. But I think this country is headed to a revolution. I wish a newspaper reporter would take a look at all of em and disclose the truth and the other politicians need to turn the crooks in as well.

Charles, thanks for your comment.  Most newspaper reporters have blogs.  So, why does blogging "amount to doing nothing"?  No election in which I've cast a vote was decided by a single vote - so, my vote has literally never amounted to anything - but I vote anyway.

Tchaka; The so Called "Economic Performance Index" might mean something if it didn't come from the Progressive Policy Institute and it's founder Al From who is a Democratic Strategist who served Jimmy Carter from 1979 - 1980 in of all things Deputy Advisor on Inflation From is  also is the Founder and CEO Democratic Leadership Council so how about something a less partisan and more reliable like something from say Pew.

    Hi Jay

It appears that many of our public officials have lost prospective and place themselves above the people who vote for them. In this case the governor if convicted needs to spend time in jail.

    Good luck and success

Every now and again I like to stop here to read how ridiculous the far left and far right can be.  Both extremes can be very dangerous.  Read the comment thread folks... freaking amazing.  Even though a lot of this commentary is downright sad, it literally does make me LOL.
