Attic Sign

While I admit my garage attic is well packed with various objects, not temperature sensitive objects, the attic over my home has only insulation. Have any of you seen a sign like this in an attic? It was a first for me but I like the idea of it.

Cool I wish it was in all the attics what I have to inspect.

Vince that is a first for me.  Although, it makes sense that someone would put it up, I doubt if most homeowners would pay attention.

I often wish the builders here would use signs like that, but I've never EVER seen one.  Instead I get stuff like this with the heat pump on the far side.

Isn't the listing agent SUPPOSED to advise the seller about inspectors needing access to the mechanical equipment.  This one hadn't and decided to pay the reinspection fee herself!

Folks don't realize that a normal attic is not designed for storage.

I like it, too. Classic photo. I need to create something like that in Corel Draw for my Clients.

You can't tell the difference between our attics and garages here. They both look like this:

I give my "don't crush the insulation with storage" spiel on every inspection...  I wonder who is listening.

This brings something else to mind. How many of you, after you traverse the attic, make an effort to cover up your tracks? I always follow my steps back the way I came and cover them up as I go.

I try my best not to crush insulation.  If I can maneuver and walk up on the trusses I do.  If not, there are usually footprints that preceed me, so I step in those.  I like to leave the campsite cleaner than when I found it... old Boy Scout principle.

I am guessing most attics are built to a load specification.  The ones with the signs would be from builders who have a known problem with the attic.

Interesting observation Gene. So you think this sign was put in place because the attic structure might have problems? I didn't think of it that way.
