Some people might say that what I consider Providence is luck or coincidence. Sometimes, they could be right. But, at other times it would be clear cut wrong on my part not to acknowledge a clear case of Divine Intervention and/or Direction.
What I conceive as Providence happens to me so frequently that I began studying "Providence"; in part so I could validate that I am not the only one that knows God works directly in our lives if we allow Him, too. Some circumstances are so intricately designed that there is no other explanation. One article I visit often is:A Study of Divine Providence by Wayne Jackson.
He discusses how miracles have ceased, but Providence is, well--a fact.
I would like to hear your Providential stories. I know you have them. Our work as Licensees exposes us so much to the world at large, some more so than others (like me--the perpetual Field Agent/Broker:-)
So--here's my first anecdote. I smile as I remember it; as I am sure you will as well when you recall yours.
I was working on 2009 listing plans and budget. I finally, thank God, have developed a focus. I will try to discipline myself to listing $150k and less, and seeking out sellers of vacant properties. I was thinking SW Gulfport from Hwy 49 West to Bay St. Louis/Waveland. My planning was disturbed by a phone call. A very nice sounding woman had run across my name on the Internet and was interested me in listing her home. "Coincidentally?" ...just inside the Western boundary of HWY 49, Gulfport. My preliminary research indicates the home will price within the $135K to $150K range (I am not through with the comp yet, I have not seen the inside--which is newly redone.) It is in Original Gulfport, walking distance to the Island View Casino. ...Maybe that was coincidence--but, it has been a very long time since a direct prospect has called me regarding listing.
Could that be because I was not committed to a plan myself?
Day before yesterday, I was working on other things and kept thinking I should drop by the house and take another look. For some reason I kept doing other things. Finally, I got out. Drove the neighborhood, and decided to give her a call. So, I power up my laptop and Verizon wireless because I had forgotten to put her number in my cell phone. After I logged on, I instead decided to pop in on AR real quick.
About a minute later. She calls me. While she was on the phone, I found the right house and was able to give her a walk around peak through the window inspection--as I did not have the key yet and tenants had just moved out. That seemed a little bizarre to both of us!

My Door Knocking Obsession written01/14/2007 03:33 PM
Suzi,
I've been going to the doors for about 2 years. It's a great experience!
I take the approach that I'm providing a service to those that are planning to move in the next year, and they appreciate that. Many are just amazed that an agent would actually be out working the streets. In fact, if they ask what I'm doing, I'll say that I'm "looking for work". They usually smile and tell me to keep at it.
One day I was walking across a snowy driveway and fell flat on my back. I guess there was ice under the snow. amazingly, I wasn't hurt at all. I've also had experiences where I've listed a home the same day I knocked! They were going to sell that day--they just didn't know who would help them until I came along.
Face to face is amazing, and you don't have to pay a monthly subscription fee!

One time an opportunity for me to be a Good Samaritan in passing seemed to be carefully and intricately orchistrated. My daughter and I randomly stopped at a general grocery store. We just happened to finish up and get in line behind an elderly woman. When the clerk rang her up; she apologized and started putting things back on the counter. I looked down in my purse. There was four crisp 1 dollar bills laying on top. She was short $4. So, I told her I wanted to cover the shortage and to put the things back in her sack. She seemed a bit confused and a bit relieved. She asked for my address to pay me back. Of course not. It was amazing to me how perfect the timing was. Often, I don't carry cash. My daughter and I seldom shop that particular store. We had not intended to shop that store--and for us to finish and be in line behind this woman rather than still shopping... I was very happy. That small $4 was earmarked for her long before we bumped into each other.

I am very much aware that God cares about our business. He cares about Real Estate. For fun, I would like help collecting real estate oriented scriptures, and the scriptures in which God told a person to go somewhere and settle. If you think I'm being wacky--you can tell me that too.
How I got on this train of thought was I have read several scriptures I lost track of. I remember when I read them that God was actually not only the Creator, but the first Surveyor. He would describe a land that a Biblical Character was to possess.
