With severe weather warnings going on and General Mitchell Airport in Milwaukee closing this morning, I decided to work from home today.  I thought it might be safer to stay around the house, not drive - that would be better for my health.

My Simba sure enjoyed the day.  There is something about snow that Golden Retrievers just love.  Since it is still snowing, I played "let dog in, let dog out"Simba snow most of the day.

I'd love to have the job of a weatherman.  They never have to be accurate.  Just vague. The reports said, somewhere between 6 -10 inches of snow for the storm and it should end around noon.  It has been snowing since last night.  It is now after 4 pm and guess what?  It is STILL snowing.  Now the temperatures have dropped below freezing and the roads are a mess.

We have gotten somewhere around 6 inches in Menomonee Falls.  Northern and further inland areas have gotten more.  Near the lake has gotten less.  This sure isn't the usual snow pattern here.  Usually the lake area gets more.

I am so glad I stayed home!  I did go out and play with Simba in the snow.  It is now up to my knees in the backyard, and that makes for quite a workout trying to trudge through it.  Not tought for Simba though, he looks like a deer bounding across the yard.

I have to say a short prayer for everyone to get home safely tonight.  The roads are a mess and there are BIG wrecks on the expressway.  So God please watch over and bring all my family, neighbors, friends and their families home safely tonight.

Here's to a snow-beautiful day!

It's like going back to elementary school and listening to the radio for school closings. I live in Calif. now so we don't have snow days. Very cute dog!

April, I'll second that prayer.  We didn't get a lot of snow but have ice under the snow.  The kids didn't have school and we had a very pleasant day at home.

April,

Your prayer before mine, but here goes:

"Please let me be a weatherman in Miami...."

Lol!

Marcy - Quite a few of the schools were closed today.  I'm sure kids were lovin it!

Kathy - That ice is bad.  Now that the temps are dropping we're in for a few days of black ice I'm afraid.

Steve - Funny, oh so funny!

Tom - It sounds like you got more snow in Oconomowoc than we got here.

Richard - Yep, I think we're in for a long, cold, wet winter.

Weathermen are the only people that we completely accept when they lie. We totally expected them to be wrong anyway.

April, snow is nice for a brief visit but then it should go away rather quickly. I know it is fun to play in but it can be messy to have stay around. I know pets love to run and play in it, just as kids do. Simba probably thought "oh what a nice comfy cool bed".

April - We have a Simba to only our is named Dallas.  He doesn't care what it is like out he wants to be outside with his barn cat.  It amazes me that he will lay out there and sleep in the snow and you try to call him in and he just looks at you like, "why in the heck do you think I want to come insdie"?

JL - I don't think they intentionally lie, just throw out whatever they think at the moment. My stats this year on amounts of snow have been better than theirs - just by looking at the sky!

Eric, One nice thing with the snow is that it makes it so quiet. When I walked Simba this morning it was a quiet hush, much queiter with a blanket on everything - the roads are still covered completely.

Tami - I think they are more comfortable outside. With their thick fur coats, I can see why.

I live in Southern California, and I don't think my dog has ever experienced anything colder than the mid 50's.

April - I liked the weatherman job that Steve Martin had in L.A. story, would tape all the weather reports for the week on one day. Hope you stayed warm and Simba had great time.

There is something about dogs and children when it comes to snow.  My 2 y.o. and 4 y.o. absolutely love it when it snows.  The older kids don't really care too much about it anymore.  The little ones get so excited they can't stand it.  They just look out the window and yell "Shno ot side! Shno ot side!"

Me, not so much.

The greatest job on earth!  "Look for some snow between 4 p.m. this evening and 9 a.m. tomorrow morning."  Or this one - my all time favorite - "It's gonna be cold so bundle up!"

That's my second choice of what I want to be when I grow up!

April, our Goldens don't see snow very often in Texas, but they love it and the colder weather always makes them really hyper. In, out, in, out ... just to go out and play :-)

Maureen - I would like that weather, my golden would probably miss the really cold weather.  He just lives for it!

Mike - We are trying to stay warm, wind chills are below zero!  Ouch!  We had a little break of warm weather and rain over the weekend.  As I look out the window now, the next storm is upon us.  Another 3 - 5 inches they estimate....

Renae - It is always fun to watch the kids playing and making snowmen!  Ahh - to be young and carefree.  Let's go make a snow angel!

Kathy - no kidding!  Bundle up or take a raincoat.... blah, blah, blah.....They take 100 words to say 2 words... it's cold!

Cameron - I would like to come back one day as my dog.  He rules the house!

Lara - The colder, the more energy!  The crazier!
