I want everyone to feel my pain- I moved to an area with only dial up available! So do not complain about slow ISP until you take that step back into the past and experince the joys of dial up again!

ohhhh Mark--say it isn't so!  I would die with dial-up!  Can you get DSL or is it Dial Up only!!!!

Mark do you have a cell phone? If so you can get cell service that you can tether your computer into it and connect to the internet. I did this because as a home inspector I sometimes have to go out to the country or more often am in a house that I would never connect in. I got my phone set up this way and must say that it is faster than my cable connection at home. I still use my cable at home but when in the field I can generate my inspection report and send out the report via e-mail on site much faster than at home. You should look into it. Hope this helps some one out there.

I looked at a wireless card for my laptop but I would eat up my bandwidth in no time & the 2 way satelittes are not fast enough to justify the price.

Mark I also looked at wireless card. But did not like it. I am now using my actual phone to connect with the Internet. Just plug it into computer and switch to the phone as modem. Fast easy and great connection.

We live in a remote area of the state - McCormick, SC - and are fortunate to have a great dsl service!  Most people are surprised at the speed when they move here. Interesting about the phone connection.  Hope it won't be long until connection is not such a big issue and we can all move around on the Internet with no problem!

I use Time Warner. Believe me, the Road Runner is not as fast as the Road Runner in the Cartoons. It moves slow, it feels like dial-up sometimes during peak hours. My speed was actually faster when I used Bellsouth DSL but since they are now AT&T, I wouldn't dare give them my money. Windstream is slowly moving into the area so I do plan to check them out if I decide to stay in Charlotte.
